Description *UPDATE* As you see here, I now own a Platinum copy of Croc 1, a strategy guide for Croc 2 (I owned originally but now re-bought) and now own boxed copies of Croc 1 & 2 on GameBoy Color!

A shame that Argonaut Games went bankrupt in early 2004 and chances for a Croc reboot are kind of up in the air currnetly...

I had these awesome games YEARS and YEARS ago... (only the PS1 games )
Oh, the memories~

Quite underrated games if I do say so myself.

Ah I see. While the GBC version is okay, I felt pretty rushed and tacked on in terms of the control scheme and hit detection.

Yep~ I really enjoyed them.... even if I was hopeless at playing them....
...there's no denying that Croc's super-adorable appearance and great levels kept me playing it!

Ah right...that's sometimes the case with handheld games of that age and calibre

I won't deny that, the difficulty spikes for each game are pretty huge. >.> ANd same here too, even now I get a good kick out them all.

Oh and I forgot, most of Croc's moves are assigned to 1 button, due to the limited capabilities of the GameBoy (e.g. the B button is both a sprint/spin technique).

Hehee~ ^^ You're right there!

Yep...that's another point.... lack of buttons

Indeed I am!

Yes, though with most games that's not a huge issue. o3o

Yeah, it would depend on the games complexities I suppose...
Handheld Sonic and Mario games for example don't really need that many buttons ^^

That's right. I know the Sonic Advance Trilogy encourages the player to use more than just the A Button as you go through later stages where there's potentially a steep learning curve. *cough* Sky canyon *cough*

Ugh, jeez~ that zone took me some time!
Sonic Advance 1 and 3 never really had that sort of problem...
The learning curves were pretty consistent, I thought

Indeed it did. XD That was the first Sonic Advance I played at the time too. lol

Advance 1's difficult is pretty tame up until Egg Rocket and Cosmic Angel. XD With Advance 3, there's major instances of crushing in most of the stages (though doesn't every 2D Sonic game consist of crushing lol). I think it just comes down to the size of the GameBoy screen; making it hard to judge where it's safe to not be crushed at.

I'm sure that was the first one I played aswell....because I remember having major trouble looking for the first one

Egg Rocket was my favourite zone from Advance 1
Yeah~ I'm totally in agreement with Advance 3's crushing....I'm sure they made the "detection" a little too broaden...
...because at times, I'd die BEFORE whatever it was that was about to crush me actually did!
With the others...there was a higher chance you'd get away with it.

Ah I see, and then I played Advance 1 and Advance 3 in that order too.

The Egg Rocket is also home to one of my favourite songs in the game. And indeed, that's happened to me a few times (not majorly mind you, I still had a fair share of deaths elsewhere lol). XD Though some years ago, I encountered a glitch in Toy Kingdom where you walk up to the side of a crushing platform (when it reaches its lowest point), but it counts as getting crushed despite not being underneath it. XP

Yeah, I loved the tune to Egg Rocket! (I think Cosmic Angel's was better though...that one was probably my fave stage theme in the game! ^^)
One thing that really confused me though...is that, once you complete Angel Island act 2... you are then taken to Egg Rocket Act 1... but then,
once you've completed that...you then go on to Cosmic Angel...Act 2 !! (It actually says it on the title card!)
So...whatever happened to Cosmic Angel - Act 1?!

Wait, really~ ? Wow....don't think I ever experienced that glitch...

Yes Indeed!~

Funnily enough, I was gonna make a statement saying it wasn't called Cosmic Angel Act 2 but when I booted up the game just now, it does. But yeah, I know what you mean; there was no Egg Rocket Act 2 or Cosmic Angel Act 1.

^^

That's just an oddity that I can't seem to forget about that game!
And yet....in "Sonic Pinball Party" the Egg Rocket table uses the music from Cosmic Angel!

SafeGaming89 In reply to blueyoshiegg [2017-08-26 00:01:26 +0000 UTC]

If anything, they should have just called it Egg Rocket Act 2 instead of Cosmic Angel. XD

I still haven't tried Sonic Pinball Party yet. lol

blueyoshiegg In reply to SafeGaming89 [2017-08-26 00:03:06 +0000 UTC]

LOL~ yeah, it'd made sense! Or...just called act 1 "Egg Rocket" and call act 2 "Cosmic Angel"
Like they did in Sonic 2 for "Sky Chase" and "Wing Fortress". Single act zones

I've not played it for years~ I've got the original GBA cartridge somewhere

SafeGaming89 In reply to blueyoshiegg [2017-08-27 00:41:54 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. That's what I initially believed Cosmic Angel was called and didn't even see the Act 2 on the bottom right of the screen. XD

And I see. It's a game I may not pick up honestly.

Hehee~ I'm not very observant either....I'm surprised I clocked it though!

No worries~ ^^ I know it's not everyone's cup of tea (...or coffee...)
