A subspecies of the Angstius Sueus, Sympathy Sue uses her tearful past to catch her prey, as well as her bodily assets and seemingly angelic personality. These Sues are far more pervasive in fandoms where having a tragic past is practically part of each character description (e.g. Death Note); and therefore, harder to spot and eliminate.

Suethors commonly insert scenes of self-pity and "please help me, hot canon guy" content, to the point that the reader wonders when are they ever going to fucking stop and kill themselves already . A tragic past, for these Sues, usually consist of:
- seven scenes with blood in them
- six bullies at school
- five abusive family members
- four suicide attempts
- three scenes of child molestation and/or rape
- two murdered parents
- one "you can make it all better if you hook up with me"
oh, and
- over 9000 small cute animals killed

The extraordinary thing about these Sues is how easily they can leech the canon characters to their side. Normally psychopathic, sociopathic, violent, shy, lonely, weird, gay, or "just not just that into girls" characters suddenly find themselves falling head over heels for Sympathy Sue- probably because she appears to be the perfect girlfriend, with an all-caring personality and BOOBS and small angel wings growing out of her shoulders and BOOBS and a really short skirt, have I mentioned BOOBS? Incidentally, the canon characters seem to lose all traces of their former personalities and are instead content with being Sympathy Sue's bitch. Lemons ftw!
