The problem arose when the general public stopped tuning into world games. It appeared that most viewers just didn't find it entertaining anymore. As such the games had to be revamped and the stakes raised.

Irena had been squaring off with her opponent for an hour now. The score was tied, and the next point would either make it or break it for the star athlete. Winding up she slammed the ball over the net, muscles tensed as she watched it fly. Yes. Yes, keep going! I can win this. But as the ball started to near out of bounds Irena's heart sank. No, no, no. Drop you stupid ball. I can't lose! DROP! Alas, Irena's nerves had gotten the best of her. She had hit the ball too hard, a rookie mistake, and it went flying out of bounds. She had lost.

"NO!" She screamed in despair. Even her opponent looked sympathetic, for they both knew that in these games those who lost became the ball. Irena looked around frantically for help even though she knew none would come. She had watched countless others be inflated, she just had never imagined it would be her this time. As the characteristic hissing began, Irena could only look at her belly in terror as it began to expand.
