Wow, I almost missed it~ ^^ I found this image on an old hardrive of the first anthro I drew back in July 2003~Original: fav.me/d7qjwpt
This is my redraw of it~ It looks better on the sheet... I like it, but I sort of wish I hadn't shaded it in... my scanner simply isn't equipped to get a better resolution~ Sorry~ And of course, I always welcome critiques and/or suggestions~ ^^
She is Mwezi, high priestess, and follower of Elume, the God who controls the three moons of her world~
Mwezi is owned by me; please do not use it without permission~
EDIT: I found the original, uncolored version~ this is a -lot older than I thought~ I originally drew this image in middle school>~ o.o

So I know that there are issues in the 'eye' area, but I cannot see them to fix, and/or figure out how to fix it correctly~ Other than that, it's apparently just rough overall, and I want to know what can be done to make it a 'finished' image~

Wow, I think you've improved a lot. It's a really amazing thing when people can tell a lot about your character just by looking - for example, in this case, I could kind of assume she was some kind of priestess just by taking a glance at it. And woah! That's exactly what she turned out to be!

For this piece, I have drawn you a rather larger reference sheet than I normally do; hopefully it can aid you! The important thing to remember when drawing Anthro creatures is they do uphold human characteristics in many areas, now in the reference I have drawn it is of course in my style every artist varies on how they prefer to draw the hands, feet, etc. However I tried to make portions in steps or easy to follow guides with line placement, so best of luck and once again I hope it can assist you! You may use it whenever you wish of course, I have drawn it specifically for you.

Thank you! Yeah, that staff changed... A LOT~ I wanted to show that the three moons are floating freely there, but I'm not great at action, and couldn't figure out how to make that work~ I'll keep at it, and repost when I redraw it~

Ah ok. That is hard to show. Other than adding a glow Im not sure what more you could do. Comic wise two short lines the same shape on opposite sides conveys motion.

i see improvement here, ur anatomy gets better ^^
since she has kinda cat face, u can use cat photo as reference, it will help a lot
her eyes height level a bit off, but thats okay it happens to all of us ( i also sometimes get that problem too hahaa ) but with practice n practice it will be overcome, anyway awesome mwezi ^^

Thank you~ I'm working on it, albeit very slowly~ Everytime I try to fix; and I had fixed it twice before publishing it, I seem to mess it up in a different fashion~ So I've asked for some help, and am waiting for the reply before I mess this image up~

no, I meant that everytime I erase and try to proportion the eyes and muzzle I end up messing up somewhere else~ So I'm asking for a bit of help, to show me what it is I am doing wrong~ Nah, she's wearing that outfit; I think it suits her~

I've had three people say that the face is off, but could never explain HOW~

Decent anatomy (I'd say HUMAN anatomy but uhh...) but the face of the animal seems a bit off. It looks as if you weren't entirely sure what the three dimensional shape was that you were trying to convey, thus making the chin seem low. The wrinkles on her clothing seem to make sense though, so it could be that you either tried to hard on the face or didn't try hard enough.

Thank you! I really have a hard time with faces, and the 3/4 view didn't help much~ I will keep practicing to get better at it~ I really appreciate the critique; I do not have reliable informants in my real life, and after a time, you don't see the mistakes anymore~

Yeah, I know how it feels. None of my friends or family are artists, so asking them for meaningful feedback is always a challenge XD
If you want a tip for how to detect mistakes that can be easily overlooked, try looking at the picture inverted. You can do this on the computer, or if you're using a pencil and paper (my personal preference) then you can always hold it up to a mirror. If you don't have a mirror, hold the paper up to the light and look at it from the other side of the paper. I do these things a lot. Often times though, I do it when it's too late (like I've already inked in the line work).
