Holy smokes! I didn't think I'd manage art for this even as I've been having a terrible art block for weeks, but then a couple of days ago, I managed to churn out the sketch for this. There are some composition elements I would love to change, but that's what ya get sometimes
This piece was the perfect opertunity to practice wings
Real quick rundown of the scene: Daemyn is using his Water Manipulation to summon a storm (keeping his buddies dry of course) and he's almost about to FITE Torsten! But Farsight and Kali get in the way, and Daemyn's dear wife manages to calm him down. No fighting. But Daemyn is still damn angry and struggling with what he percieves as Sonador betraying the small family of friends.

Each character obviously belongs to their owner!
Kalakara:
Kali had been standing in silence, since he said his last piece. His throat felt sore, and his mouth dry as a desert; his heart pounded incessantly in his chest as he stood next to Dae, watching as the group bickered among themselves. His eyes flicked from Tansy's covered head to Sonya, and his gaze grew suddenly cold. If Sonya had been such a close friend, he had a funny way of showing it. With the seeds of Dae's doubt sown in his own mind, Kali felt himself questioning the bay horse silently. He thought back to each and every word he'd shared with Sonya, wondering if any of them would be used against him.
Lowering his gaze, Kali stared at the sand under his hooves, the very makeup of his homeland. If only the answers were written there, plain and clear for all to see. The group's words echoed inside Kali's head. Tansy's accusations, Farsight's pleading to let them go, Dae's fear of Sonya's loyalties. The niggling words of the foreigners, who seemed so set in their convictions of deliverance. He just wanted a moment of silence, but the sounds were relentless, driving his sanity into the sand at his hooves.
Shutting his eyes tightly, Kali watched the shapes dance behind his eyelids, falling into their patterns to calm himself. Finally, his eyes snapped open, and he stepped forward, leaving the safety of Dae's side to stand between the two groups. He stopped just before Sonya, locking eyes with the other stallion. He was searching for any hint of malice in those orange eyes. He only found sadness.
"I don't trust you any longer," he began, leveling his gaze at Sonya. "And I am sure you would not blame me for that, considering where you stand now," he added, glancing to the Flock members. "I have been lied to, even if only by omission, and it has hurt me to find the truth this way. But," he continued, letting the words linger for a moment. "But, I cannot condemn you to death. It is not my way; perhaps if I were more bloodthirsty, I would walk with you away from here. As it stands, I will not see my friends...erstwhile or not...slaughtered here." Craning his neck, he looked to Tansy. Blinking, he stood, silent. Then, he spoke, quietly. "I hope next time we meet, we will no longer be on opposite sides of the wall," he stated simply. The closest to a goodbye either of them would get from the black overo. Turning, he faced Dae, still standing between the clusters of horses.
"I know every fiber in your being wants you to keep Sonya here," he continued. "I feel the same distrust, like I have had the earth pulled out from beneath me. You seem to forget that Sonya is my friend, that I had trust in him. I don't like being lied to, and I know you do not as well. I know you want to do your duty as a Guardian. But as your spouse, I am begging you to listen to reason. If these two stay here, if they're caught with the freedom's flight, it is almost certain they will be killed. Trust me. Despite this development, Sonya would not see us killed by his intervention. Even if I know nothing else about him, I know that much. That is the one thing I still believe to be true. Let them go."
Daemyn:
The storm grew fiercer, the drops of water falling hard, pelting off of hides like sharp pebbles. Only, the drops arched away from Daemyn's little group; Zenith, Farsight, Kali and himself all went untouched by the hard rain. His eyes locked on the bat-winged pegasus, feeling the anger and energy radiating off of him, feeding Daemyn's own rampant emotions. He wanted to launch at the stallion, to bite, kick and tear his wings into shreds. He wanted, no, he needed a physical outlet for all the pain and anger. What better way than to battle this terrorist beast!
Muscles bulged, the tip of hooves sank into the ground, and Daemyn would have attacked if not for Tansy's ragged body shuffling in to block his way. He words did nothing to cool his mind. He would gladly let Tansy go, but not the potential spy, no no no, he couldn't. It went against every fiber of his being! Yet he could not bring himself to harm Tansy in any way, even just to shove her aside. "Tansy, " he started, wanting to explain why he couldn't let the bay go, but the very same stallion cut in with words of his own, and they were oil on an already raging fire.
How dared he... HOW DARED HE?! Accusing Daemyn of being a traitor! A murderer! Whatever minute calm might have been settling in, it evaporated entirely with Sonador's words, and Daemyn's ears pinned flat as he trembled with rage. It took every ounce of control to restrain himself, yet the rain took on a sharper edge, pelting the Flight harder still.
He eyed the drenched group, dear Tansy under Sonador's wing and the strangers all ready for whatever Daemyn might throw at them. It would be a fight he wasn't so sure he could win, unless Kali and Farsight... Farsight's voice added to the sea of sound and Daemyn had to shut his eyes hard to breathe deeply, baring his teeth. He didn't want to hear the truth, but the words were still piercing through the red mist in his mind, finding a tiny corner which still held some reason.
Then he felt Kali move from his side and popped eyes open, extended his little safety bubble to keep her from the stinging rain. He was trying to device a way of taking out all of the Flight members quickly, suffocate them until they passed out perhaps, and he was so deeply wrapped up in this dark plan, that Kali's first few words went unnoticed. His attention snapped to his wife, standing there before him, another body which blocked his path. Ears pinned forward and as Kali spoke softly, words that fed straight to his heart and calmed his mind if only a little, the rain softened and the orbs of water began to ripple and lose form, before splashing to the ground, gone entirely.
It was the painful truth again but delivered by a divine creature he would never intentionally harm. His body softened, if only gently, and the rain turned to a slight mist. Refreshing almost. Daemyn did not wish death upon anyone, he simply wanted to keep the spy and his information out of the Flight's wings. But at what cost? Torture? Public execution? He couldn't just prevent Sonador from leaving and then not address the issue. His loyalty would force him to turn in the pegasus and that was a line of thought his raging mind hadn't considered at all.
Daemyn deflated with a long, deep sigh. He looked past Kali to Tansy, and felt his heart shatter just a little bit more. "We don't know what happened to you. We didn't see either of you today, " he said softly and the pinned the Flight members with a bitter glare.
"Get lost. "
