Just gonna copypaste the tumblr commentary.
Lately I’ve been sacrificing a couple of hours of sleep just to vomit out a lot of sketchy art apparently my writing is beginning to suffer, but this is That Time and I can’t stop.
This started out as a body variation thing. I am always worried that I’m drawing the same body type over and over again considering how many male characters I own. I mean, avoiding sameface for the past few years is all good and well, but what’s the point if I got samebody?
Thankfully, each man…or dullahan…or Summoner…has a reason as to why they have different body types. Height was thrown in because I personally can’t deal with not making a point to show height differences.
Also yeah everyone’s wearing boxer trunks, it was a challenge. And additional challenge - body hair. I know I’ve not drawn body hair, but it’s always been my intention to and I decided to start now whether I like it or not. I’m just so done with hairless men, lol.
November Argenstrausz, 29
Primarily an archer, he has well-developed back muscles. He is also the only one with no body hair because he has elven blood; it’s a quirk of his. Even though he’s a musician now (and maybe occasional vigilante assassin, but shh you did not just read that), he still keeps himself in relative shape because he sees himself as his friends’ protector.
Marlex Hyeung, 33
Suffered malnutrition as a child and only resorted to archery as a means of survival rather than combat, thus being fairly thin and having his ribs show quite obviously as well as being shorter than his friend. He has somewhat fast metabolism but tends to forget to eat due to workaholic tendencies (old habits die hard, but he’s trying), so he finds it difficult to gain weight. As a dancer he puts more effort in choreography and stamina.
Jinlong Fa, 39
Primarily taekwondo practitioner, but he is based off a MMA fighter’s build. Plenty of upper body strength, thick waist to support the muscle, and powerful muscled legs for kicking hard. Even at 39 he maintains this amount of muscle by working out every day, morning and evening. He has thick ankles due to wearing weights around them for a few hours every day, although he’s starting to do this less before it begins to cause damage to his bones.
Garrett Basilier, 21
Based off a swimmer’s build, Garrett (who is a Garrison soldier from Attack on Titan) is not designed for strength. Rather, he moves with speed and utilises the laws of physics - momentum, inertia, gravity and velocity - to give him enough leverage to create a large amount of force when applying his 3DMG blades to a Titan’s nape. He works out just as often as Jinlong.
Atticus, ~550
Former Irish mercenary specialising in spear and sword - and mounted combat. He is also the only person in the line-up to have femurs longer than average, which contribute to his height. Atticus also has a pronounced ribcage to go with his long torso, thus his “heroic” build (for a given amount of “heroic” given he was a mercenary). Credit to Lolalaan for calling it that.
Emery Varanth, ~150+ (age to be specified later)
Without giving spoilers away, Emery is based off a knight. Fairly straight torso due to muscle distribution being even throughout upper body and waist. Strong muscled legs allow his vigorous on-foot combat, but don’t be fooled into thinking that slows him down - he is quick and quite strong, and this is important because he uses a guandao. But he still has a healthy layer of fat around the abdomen or so due to his age.
