Okay there was a ridiculously lazy description here but since I'm now submitting this to the group I might as well elaborate.

Atticus used to be an Irish Gael mercenary. Apart from the fact that I accidentally left out his beard, he is as accurate as I can get for a 1340s Gael. So for the sake of artistic licence let's just ignore the missing beard.

Also now you know where the penannular brooch is located about his person.

Other notes I have written regarding the form he had before his beheading:
As a Gaelic Irish Atticus would have wielded, most of the time, a sleagh (spear) and scath (shield), along with a scian (long knife) at his side at all times. He wasn’t the type to wield a bow and arrows, but if he got his hands on an axe he’d use that as much as he could. He was not a particularly nice person when he was alive; I might as well go as far as to call him a spoilt, ungrateful and rather ruthless brat, really. He even looks like he’d be an arsehole when he was alive (and he was, even by his own post-mortem standards).
His dullahan form is meant to match the "dark man" interpretation of him as much as possible without going full-on black like most depictions of the dullahan are. The green of his cloak even remains in death, although it's more to remind him of the hills of Ireland when he left them behind. His armour has never been fixed for a long period; this is his current armour, more Nordic with a bit of Celtic hint, but generic enough to be recognisable that he's not from a time people are familiar with.

The characteristic grin he has is meant to emulate the description of the myth's apparition. A dullahan is said to have a mouth that stretched from ear to ear. I made it more literal in the sense that he has no lips whatsoever, which thus shows yellowing teeth and rotting gums, and yes his dentition is correct.

When in this form, his hair moves by itself as if suspended in water, and he emits black smoke constantly. He's basically a corpse in suspended decomposition, but he smells of age, time and earth rather than blood or rotting meat.

Atticus actively avoids showing his true form to anyone else, and not just because he doesn't want to scare people. Reverting to this form means he regains his ability to see whose lives are ending so that he can collect them both near and far, and he will have an overwhelming urge to go back to his job. He took 500 years to override that urge, he's not going back to it for a while. If he does, he'll get stuck for goodness knows how long again in that form. Even though one day he'll revert to it anyway, he's not planning for that day to be today. Or tomorrow. Or for his existence in the Cirque.

He keeps a horse which he summons at will when he wishes to. She's not his pet, though, and frankly he doesn't need her so you don't get to see her much.

As a dullahan Atticus wouldn’t need a weapon since his job is to herald death, not cause it, but as per his dullahan-ness he would wield a human spine as a whip. Which, to be honest, is a bit stupid because individual vertebrae are held together by muscle; without muscle it’ll be “swing! clatter clatter clatter”. So in his case the whip would be an actual leather whip, but with human vertebrae strung along it. He’s not allowed to hurt the living (it’s only for his horses), but it still scares the shit out of them to see it. Though in honesty when he uses the whip he never even touches the horses with it; he’s very gentle towards horses.
His current form: Atticus does not lie down when he rests, he instead sits up in bed because if he did his head would fall off. He's also not technically "resting", but he's been "alive" and awake, for a given amount of life, for 500 years and he'd really rather have some time to himself where he isn't either giving in to the urge to seek souls or thinking about things. He doesn't tire either.

In the presence of 18k gold and above, he will get uncomfortable and attempt to distance himself from it as far as possible. This is because extended exposure to gold will revert him into his true form. With 14k gold, gold paint and gold flake, he just gets tetchy, but it's usually recommended to keep all gold away from him even if it's fake because he does start getting very, very irritated.

He's okay with pyrite.

There was a strange smell all around him, rich and damp and reminding him of the beautiful trees and green lush grass that graced the hills and moors, but it was completely dark all around him. Were his eyes open? He'd just blinked. Yes, they were.
He moved a hand and reached out. His hand didn't feel like it belonged to him. In fact, none of his body felt like it did. It felt...disconnected, as if he was moving it because he wanted to move it, not because he was indeed committing the act. Where was he? His fingertips made contact, and he felt pieces of it come off as he brushed his fingers along it. What was it?
Soil?
After a minute or so, he raised both of his hands - awkwardly - and pushed against the soil above him. What was he doing under the soil? Who'd buried him alive? The last thing he remembered before the darkness of sleep was...
...nothing?
He tried to recall, but he'd neither dreamed nor woke from his sleep. Come to think of it, it wasn't

If he is provoked until fully enraged (which takes ages because he has the tolerance and patience of a tombstone), he may lose conscious control of his normal appearance.
