Description So Inside Out came out not long ago and
already there are shippings.

FearXDisgust. I think these two emotions
go hand in hand when it comes to avoiding
the poisonous/hazardous things in life, such
as germs. I also found the concept of insects
to be a huge contributor. Many people are
afraid of bugs but are disgusted by them as
well.

So anyway, I like these two. And yes I know Fear wears
a bow tie, not a necktie. Maybe you could say that his slight
new change in style suddenly made him irresistible or
something, especially to Disgust.

I call this drawing Treasure, because of the gold color tone. Or it
could be reference to the Bruno Mars song, either way.

Anyway. Enjoy.

I think they fit because their both unpleasant emotions. Who wants to be sad or angry?

Thats about it.

Apparently to Disgust, tall skinny purple guys with big noses, wearing a sweater vest and shirt, black slacks and brown shoes, who suddenly decided to change to a neck tie, are as good as gold.

It is a crime that this does not have more comments and favorites.  Heck, anybody who sees this picture and does not fave or comment from now on will be arrested.

But all joking aside,(or was I being serious?) this picture is unbelievably adorable.  I hope to see more disear from you, and perhaps even some Angness.

Wow? Nobody's commented on this?! That's a shame! Allow me to be the first. But, FIRST, a disclaimer:

I don't exactly like shipping. Actually, ask anyone and they'll tell you that I'm disgusted and frightened (oh I'm so clever) by it. Sorry, it's just the way things are.

But, that being said, a good drawing is a good drawing, and let me tell you - THIS is a good drawing! Where to start?

First of all, I want to compliment you on keeping the characters proportionately correct and canonical; nothing really irks me more than characters drawn incorrectly (unless it's done intentionally in a different style, but usually people are just messing things up), so - first of all - good job on that.

Secondly, your use of a golden tone (but not too golden or vivid) really makes the image eye-catching. You didn't have it too glaring or too dim; you struck a well-done balance, something hard to achieve.

Lastly, might I add that the lighting is terrific? You really let the glow shine off the center and reflect off the characters in a realistic way; it gives the drawing depth and adds a nice contrast to the outside edges of the image.

In short, the only thing I dislike about this is the fact that it's a romantic image, and that's just personal preference on my part; THIS is a good drawing!

In fact, it's good enough for me to break TWO of my rules for:

1.) since this account is for a fan-film project of Invader ZIM, I rarely (if ever) fave anything outside of the Invader ZIM fandom, naturally.

2.) additionally, I really am hesitant about faving shipping, because of how much I really do despise it.

It doesn't matter, though, with good drawings. I'm willing to set these rules aside for artwork that is well-made, and that's PRECISELY what this drawing is: it's well-done.  Keep up the good work.

Thank you for your comment. I don't even have a premium membership for this account yet,
and your comment felt very much like a critique.

I personally love shipping characters, and honestly I wasn't expecting to ship anyone from Inside Out.
I guess I liked the film too much. The power of Pixar.

That aside, I have a couple things to say about you.

1. I highly appreciate that you took the time to look over my drawing despite the reasons you gave. I understand
that you are strictly all about Invader Zim and you hate shipping. Thank you for taking the time to look my drawing!!

2. Your account is a fan film of Invader Zim? What's the film about?.

3. I also made a crossover fan film of Duckman(If you've ever heard of it) and Wild Thornberry's called Duckman Goes Wild.

I made a poster of it:

Anyway thanks man for the support.

(warning: obscenely long post ahead) That's fantastic! You clearly have the art skill for it! So many people set out to do these things without having the skills required; It's good to see you have the right artistic abilities to replicate the shows' proper styles.

As for IZ:TDM? Well, basically, the movie's been 5 years in the making and we're just now getting to recording voices and wrapping up concept art (not that I'm complaining, because it's better to get something done slowly with high quality than rush it and have it turn out horrible).

The idea is to give Invader ZIM a finale it should have been given when Nick decided to end it; that is to say, one that's dark, gruesomely hilarious, and ends with everyone losing in some way or other (EXACTLY like the show proper! ) I'd tell you more, but rather than bore you with details, I'll just give you the film's teaser trailer (featuring fan-made animation and our Zim voice actor! ) and a simplified summary:

Invader Zim: The DOOM Movie! Is a film about Invader Zim, which will function as a series finale for the show - a finale it deserved all along! Using the episodes as canon, and drawing inspiration from the unfinished episodes, the film picks up where the series left off.

The Irken Empire has conquered all the universe. Operation Impending Doom II was a success. Now the only problem that the Almighty Tallest face is their own boredom.

Remembering Zim, a defective Irken who was exiled to Earth on a fake mission, the Tallest hatch a cruel joke and stop by Earth en route to Irk. Blowing Zim's cover and revealing his mission to be a fake, the Tallest take off for Irk, laughing at Zim's misery and leaving him stranded on Planet Earth.

Unfortunately for the Tallest, Zim has become convinced that something is brainwashing them, and that it is up to him and his robotic companion GIR to rescue the Tallest from this perceived threat.

Getting tangled in the ensuing mix of mayhem and destruction are Dib , Gaz , an irritating Mary-Sue parody, a mysterious figure trailing them, the Resisty, the Master Control Brain, and even a poor, hapless Skoodge.

With all these characters out seeking their own ends, there's no telling what wacky, insane, psychotic, and just downright catastrophic events will ensue, leading Zim's diabolical invasion of Earth to an oh-so-doomy conclusion!

This is Invader Zim: The DOOM Movie!

This film isn't gonna be rated, but if it were, I'd recommend PG/PG-13 for Dark Humor, Extreme Sci-Fi Violence, and Some Frightening Images

And there you have it! Here's the trailer, by the way:

Thanks! I'm happy to hear that!

Good luck to your project, too. Not to be annoying or anything, but did you want some advice for your fan-film? I found out a few things as I struggled to cobble this project together utilizing volunteer work (since, y'know, legally I can't pay anyone)? It'd probably save you some time with what you're trying to do.

Alright! Well, first of all, here are some wonderful (FREE!) resources that I'm using to help me with managing this project:

Some Q&A I had with an expert:
izthedoommovie.deviantart.com/…
izthedoommovie.deviantart.com/…

Feel free to read through them when you have the time - INVALUABLE advice here.

Next, a handy (if a bit complicated) pipeline, showing the way that the workflow works when creating an animated feature:
campus.huntington.edu/dma/leep…

Very good for figuring out what order things are supposed to go in

The holy grail of animation guides, "The Animator's Survival Kit"
vk.com/doc176415392_222242886?…

This bad boy is literally EVERYTHING you need to know about the animation process, and then some. I highly recommen d you download it and save it so you can take some time to read it, even if it means only reading a little bit each day. TOTALLY worth it.

The silver grail of animation guides, "H&B Layout Manual"
www.animationmeat.com/pdf/tele…

Again, download this ASAP and set aside some time to read it. This details what goes into the "Layout" step of animation - a VITAL step that comes between storyboards and the animation itself. It's essentially how to "set up the dominoes" for the animators to knock over. So, technically, the "Animator's Survival Kit" comes chronologically AFTER this, but I recommend you read the animator's survival kit first, as it gives you a broader look to examine things with up front, THEN you can go into the Hannah Barbera layout manual and get a closer look at the steps.

Check out these two youtube channels:

DrawWithJazza (focuses more on drawing, but has some animation advice as well)
OnionSkin (focuses more on animation, but has some drawing advice as well)

As you can see, the two channels work awesome together.

That's all the references I can give you. My computer's acting laggy, though, so please give me a few more minutes HOURS and I'll try to pull together some personal advice I can give you from my own experience.

IZTheDoomMovie In reply to Bearmation [2015-07-14 00:46:53 +0000 UTC]

Happy to share!

Now, as for the advice I had:

1.) First of all, there's an order this stuff has to go in:

-Story Outline (I recommend you research "3 act structure" - it's a VERY handy skeleton for building your story around)

-Script (you'll have to look up the proper formats for screenplays, or shell out money for a program like Final Draft to help you write the script)

-Revisions (this one took the longest for me; going back and removing out-of-character things, making things more canonical, and basically improving the script; it can be as few as two revisions or as many as fifty - just remember to stop revising at a point when you think the script works great)

-Take stock of what you'll need voice-wise - even if it's a character that shows up for half a second for just one line, that person will need a voice actor! Now is the time to find out what you'll be voicing (if any) and what you'll need others to do.

-Find voice actors, ASAP. This is critical; the FIRST thing that has to be recorded is voices, so you need to either seek out the voices yourself by posting everywhere and searching out talent, OR by getting someone to supervise the search and find voices that match the canon characters well. I know we all want the actual voice actors, but let's be honest - it ain't happening. I had to accept this fact, or else I wouldn't have found so many talented people who are willing to do voicework for me! WARNING: you have got to make sure these people will frequently stay in contact with you AND are dedicated to the project! I've had too many people lose contact or simply bail because they just got caught up in the excitement of the moment without being dedicated. A good VA is only good if they're also willing to actually do their jobs!

-Skype is your friend for recording voices - instant feedback, instant corrections, instant critiques. Plus you can fool around and do a bit of roleplay, so that the group can get to know eachother.

-Take stock of the concept art you'll need. This includes character varieties and every prop you can concieve of, as well as every background reference image you'll need! There will need to be two stages: rough artwork  and final artwork.

For a handy reference, here's a video I made overviewing concept art

And here are my lists for characters, props, and backgrounds, so I can keep track of what's needed and what's finished:
izthedoommovie.deviantart.com/…
izthedoommovie.deviantart.com/…
izthedoommovie.deviantart.com/…

It should give you an idea of serial numbers and how I used them.

Also, important when taking stock is to give each character, prop, and background a serial number. You can concoct anything that makes sense to you, but - for me - I used CH_Sp_xx-xxx for the characters that have speaking parts, CH_Ns_xx-xxx for the non-speaking characters, Prxxx for the props, and BGxxx for the backgroudn keys. Still, as I said, come up with numbers that work for you.

-Find volunteers on a website *cough*deviantart*cough* who want to help AND are good at the style of the show(s) AND - again - are RELIABLE!  I can't tell you how many get burnt out after their first assignment (assuming they even complete it by their due dates!) and then give up on me! It's awful. So, a priority is to get concept artists who are GOOD. And - of course - assign reasonable due dates.

-For a due date overall, I'd dedicate one whole year to recording voices and getting concept art finished.

2.) Make sure you're good with Audacity, or know someone who is! It's VITAL to know what you're doing with the sound!

3.) Post Vlogs (like I did here) as frequently as you can on your YouTube channel, to share your thoughts on the project, keep people updated, and - most importantly - KEEP THE HYPE GOING. Nothing kills a project like a lack of excitement.

4.) I REALLY recommend you take some time to sit down and record "Fake Audio" (also called "Mockup Audio") of you just doing a quick-and-dirty rundown of the film, using only yourself as the voice actor and adding placeholder music and sound effects. THIS is a golden thing that can help you so much! You can give it to your VA's so that they can -in turn- use it as a guideline for how their lines are supposed to go.

Here's an example for you: the mockup audio I'm currently finishing up. This one goes as far as Acts I and II (I'm finishing up Act III's fake audio right now)

Whew! Okay, I hope this was helpful advice!

This is all some really cool advice.

I'm very aware of three act structure, I have written screenplays before (But my old ones suck)

And I have revised the story a few times.

Someday though, I actually want to produce this film to theaters.

IZTheDoomMovie In reply to Bearmation [2015-07-14 14:32:52 +0000 UTC]

Well, good luck with it. That would certainly be pretty cool, but you'd probably have to build up your reputation and finances through other films first, that way the vartoons' owners would be more likely to listen to your pitch and give you permission to put it in theaters.

As for me, I'm planning on releasing IZTDM for free on YouTube. It's less of a legal hassle that way.

Good luck again!
