Description
During our trip to Pulau Ubin, this pregnant cat came under my legs suddenly when I was having lunch with my girlfriend.It was meowing in hunger, in desparation, in hopelessness.
We fed her with some food.
Not long after, the restaurant worker began hurling stones at it.
It had to run for its dear life, with another life in its womb.

this is a very sad story... one that happens every day in my country, where nobody seems to care about stray cats and dogs. they are just captured and then released back in the street or put to sleep, or gathered in shelters where their life is worse than in the streets... 
I feel very sorry for the cat in the photo, but at least she got something to eat and I'm confident that she instinctively knows how to take care of herself and her kittens.

Exactly! That is what happens in my country too. The govt kills all the strays.

It makes me so sad to hear about the terrible treatment so many animals live with each day. My heart goes out to this poor cat and to the litter of kittens that she will give birth to. You captured sadness in her eyes and its so beautifuly sad to see. My chihuahua was abandoned in a tiny apartment left to fend for herself with no food or water, by a friend of mine. (well no longer anyway) I took her in and shes is truly one of the greatest pets i have ever had, and i've only had her 4 months. Anyway great work. this is an awesome photo.

When I saw this picture I was all like,"D'AWW SO CUTE!!<3 <3"
And then when I read the description and looked at it closer... I felt really really sad. My family rescues cats from the streets at times, so its really sad to hear about somethings this awful.. I mean, when I see a cat on the streets, my first action isn't usually hurling stones at it, I try at get it somewhere safe. However the safe place I take it to usually turns into the worse place on earth for me, because my mom yells at me like crazy because of it. XD
Anyways, it's a very touching picture. The far off look of something far beyond our knowledge... the desperation...and most of all, hope for something better in its eyes...That's my favorite part.

Yup the sad thing is, i think almost all the stray cats in Singapore lead such lives unless they are rescued. But neither can I or those who protects animals rescue all of them and usually they have a sad fate. The sad fact of life is humans have taken over the world.

If you want to report animal abuse or neglect contact your local vet and they should know a rescue organization. Or [link] or Best Friends Animal Rescue based in the USA but rescued 300 animals from the war zone: [link]

Why didn't you rescue the cat rather than just photograph it? There has to be some animal rescue organization somewhere in that country.

i love cats. i love ths picture. and i love this portrait-like effect with the black backround. i think it is good to depict animals like human-beings, because it shows that we have the same feelings.
