Here’s the thing with the OG Broly. Does he have a better design? In my opinion, yes. Does he have a better backstory? It’s debatable if you understand how PTSD works. You see, one of OG Broly’s biggest flaws was his backstory, everyone thinks his rage against Goku is nothing but bad writing, which is fair, but (if I’m not mistaken MasakoX said something similar) try and imagine everything that happened to Broly when he was born. He had to listen to Goku’s endless crying for hours on end, was stabbed right through his stomach and thrown in a garbage shoot at the same time Frieza came to destroy Planet Vegeta. That’s insane for ANYONE to go through in one day, let alone a baby. Now, I’m sure your aware of what PTSD is but for anyone reading who might not, PTSD stands for ‘post-traumatic stress disorder’, which carries this definition: “A condition of persistent mental and emotional stress occurring as a result of injury or severe psychological shock, typically involving disturbance of sleep and constant vivid recall of the experience, with dulled responses to others and to the outside world.”. With PTSD comes something referred to as a ‘trigger’, in this case Broly’s trigger would be none other than Goku. You see, Goku is connected to Broly’s case because his crying is one of the only things Broly may remember from that devastating day. But, I don’t think it’s all Goku’s fault that sets him into an uncontrollable rage. I believe it’s due to his inability to suppress his terrible memories plus his inability to control himself and his mutated Saiyan genes. This somewhat makes him a tragedy. After losing to Goku and being frozen for years, I believe this set Broly into what people refer to as ‘his retarded state’ in, Second Coming’. He just lost whatever sanity that he still had left. Now, I know this isn’t mentioned in the movies at all, but if you know how the human brain works regarding post-traumatic stress, it helps explain A LOT of his backstory. I love the new Broly, I think Akira did an amazing job, I just don’t dismiss the OG Broly just because the original writer failed to mention any of this. Definitely respect your opinions and would love to hear what you think on all of this.

Man I agree 100% that Broly from DBS is far better written character than that horribly written bullshit excuse of a character Broly from DBZ.

I think Broly is better than Broly, but you have to consider that Broly is better at this trait than the other Broly
