As I've said before, I really like the new King Acorn in the Sonic comics. So much that I've gotten into drawing him more than once since I've been seeing him appear in them. I felt like the comics brought back the father-daughter relationship he used to have with Sally, and he's shown off some pretty neat new tricks in the new continuity. His personality and mannerism of speech is also fun.
A while back, I drew a big batch of different little character sketches of Nigel Acorn to get his design and looks down (maybe so I can continue drawing him in the future, muahaha!) This picture of him with Sally is one of them. It was already several months old, but I really liked it enough to fancy it up and color it. I'm disappointed at how small the image is because of how small I made the original sketch. I should have thought about enlarging it before making the lineart and coloring it. Oh, well. It looks good when I zoom in on it in an image viewer.
I just liked this because it had feeling to it. It shows how close they are. Even though Sally is so busy leading the Freedom Fighters around the world, and King Acorn is busy ruling back home, they always have a wonderful relationship. It's thanks to him that Sally got to grow up into a strong leader. It's also easy to see where she gets her new energy bracelet powers from, too, which makes it even better.
A father's love for his child...just like a mother's love for her child, what love could be greater?

Oh yeah, because THAT title isn't overused at all. Just one thing I don't get about that episode is why would they go back to the day Robotnik to over? Why not go back to a few months before that happened and kill Robotnik while he's asleep? I know the answer is because it would end the series, but still.

Tecnically those blades aren't powers: Dr Ellidy was the one who created those, as it was explained in Sonic Universe 71. Cool picture BTW and Iove the new King Acorn too: he actually CARES for his daughter!

Yeah, I'm aware of that! It's just that "powers" was the only fitting thing I could think of to say at the time to keep the wording simple, haha. Thank you very much! Yeah, I agree completely. They are actually close to each other, just like they were in the old SatAM cartoon! I'm glad that was restored in the new continuity!

Yeah Nigel Acorn is a huge improvement over the old King Acorn. My one wish was that his throw down with Team Hooligan would have lasted longer. But this guy is a lot more like Sally, he cares for his people and wants to protect them while the old king was more a jerk who demanded loyalty and unquestioned obedience. I heard somewhere Ken Penders didn't like monarchies in general so that may have been why he wrote the old King Acorn as a jerk. Kind of weird that the old king kind of reflects him.

The new King Acorn was indeed a huge improvement from his pre-reboot self. xD I was glad that they made him more like he was in the original Sat-AM cartoon personality-wise. He really turned over a new leaf, and it was wonderful to see him healed of all of his ailments! 
I wish his duel with Team Hooligan would have lasted longer as well. He was SO DANG AWESOME in that scene with his mannerism, then pulling out his secret hidden weapon like that was just, "WOW!!! THAT IS SO COOL!" It was such an awesome revealing of his character, like, I never would have expected him to do that or have those abilities. I loved it so much. He proved he could be really cool. But then he got totally battered by Bark, the poor fella.... That made me sad. x'D But at least he showed that he was capable of being pretty awesome in action, and had potential to really protect the land he ruled.
And really? O_o That is weird. xD I mean, maybe the monarchical role can be overused, but if that's the case, he shouldn't have liked Sally either, since she's a princess. Then again....he did give the poor girl some pretty bad writing as well that really ruined her reputation to a lot of people. >.<;;; Ken Penders introduced some interesting concepts that had a lot of potential for amazing story material, which Ian Flynn took and made into something that was actually really well-done and interesting to read. But...Penders himself did not do so well in writing those concepts into something very good. That is very strange that the old King Acorn sort of reflects himself. Kind of ironic, actually.

Ken want to make it dark and he has been trying to kill off Sally since end game, he was the one who made Sally and Sonic break up, he really doesn't like the Acorn family.

He was Maxamilian in the old timeline, but since that name was introduced by Penders they had to take it out. I'm pretty sure they chose Nigel as a reference to Nigel Thornberry, who was voiced by Tim Curry just like King Acorn was in the SatAM cartoon. Plus once or twice I have seen this King Acorn actually say "Smashing" when he is happy.
