I wanna put this out there as a potential idea. But why not sometime down the line (possibly in a new chapter, maybe on Hoodlum Havoc?) say that humans exist in the Glade because it's actually Earth far in the future or after some event that defied all scientific understanding.
And that with the exceptions of a few actual humans like Barbara, you're whats left of what became of humanity after this apocalyptic Earth shattering event?
