Saint was roused from a cloying unconsciousness by the curious feeling of wind tearing at her wings. Cool moisture coated her scales in irregular intervals, a sensation not unlike...

...Not unlike falling through clouds.

She pried her eyes open with considerable effort, yellow eyes blazing in what might have been terror as she realised her predicament. Saint gave a flail midair, achieved nothing and decided not to panic. A dry, unfamiliar, rust-red expanse, criss-crossed by ugly bruise-purple patches promising water- perhaps flood residue, stretched out beneath her uncontrolled descent. At the very least, there seemed to be an absence of human settlement.

She vehemently muttered an expletive to nobody in particular and tolerated the free-fall for a few moments more. Enough was enough, and her wings slanted outwards to correct the angle of her dive.

A little too late. With a disgruntled yelp, she hit the surface of a body of stagnant water, leaving only an impressive splash in her wake.
