Description
Scene literature....->She should have stayed behind in the nest. Why didn't she stay behind in the nest instead of galavanting about in the darkness of the night? But oh no! She just had to get up and follow the only mother figure she's ever known. Now things have gone horribly wrong and there is no way to reverse the clock and begin the night again. Now she has to pay the price.
Fleur can't remember exactly why she chose to get up and follow the huge orthrus spider she calls mother, when the pearl dove had gotten up and woken the little amber dove asleep beside her. Still half asleep, Fleur only really woke up when Ellie had given her a prompt nip to the shoulder as she began to stray from her guardian's side. After a good head dunking into the snow, Fleur felt much more awake, if even more cold than before. Huddling closer to the massive left flank of Ellie and Nori, she tries to get out of the freezing breeze. Trying to snuggle deeper into her own fur, Fleur huffs out a cloud of warm breath. Her eyes were far from accustomed to the low light levels of the night. With the moon hiding behind a cluster of thick clouds, it was incredibly dark to Fleur. To the nocturnal pearl, it was a bit gloomy but both heads could see perfectly well considering the conditions. For a long time, all either could hear was the crunching snow beneath their feet and normal nightime noises.
With Ellie and Nori preoccupied with choosing their path, it was Fleur who first sensed it. Something wasn't quite right. It was quiet, too quiet. Finally the other dove noticed it too and began to slow down. For several tense seconds, not a sound could be heard beyond the soft plop of snow falling out of branches to the snow covered ground below. Practically blind in the darkness, Fleur could only rely on her sense of smell and hearing. It was Nori who first spotted the first signs of trouble. Something big was moving in their direction, slowly at first but with increasing speed and urgency. A second then a third set of footsteps were in hot pursuit close behind it. Nudging Fleur away from the approaching chase, Ellie looked around for an escape route while Nori kept her gaze fixed on the nearing trio. A blur of a Kukuri erupted out of the shrubbery, charging towards the doves in a panic. Two more were close on its heels, a human astride each with ropes in hand.
With a deep rumbling growl reverberating within her chest, Ellie shoves the small dove beside her into motion, sticking close by her side as they turned tail and ran from the approaching wranglers. Neither dove was very fast, Ellie and Nori being a walking tank of a Kukuri and Fleur a clumsy chicken who should be fast asleep at this hour. Sticking close together as they dodged half concealed obstacles and overhanging branches, the doves tried hard not to panic as the sounds of pursuit got closer. One Kukuri became bold and tried to get between the enormous pearl and the little chicken. Lurching first to the right and then back again to the left, Ellie slammed her thick, powerful tail into the brazen Kuku and its rider, sending them both tumbling into the snow. The immediate threat dealt with, Ellie turned her attention back towards the task at hand. Escape.
Being far too big and heavy to risk greater speed in such terrain, Ellie and Nori guide Fleur towards a large clearing. As they droke from the gloomy cover of the vegetation and rock and began to push themselves to greater speed, the moon broke free from the clouds. Blinded by the sudden burst of light, Ellie and Nori begin to veer to the right, away from Fleur encase they accidentally trample her. Now with enough light to see, Fleur could finally get a good look at what was going on around her. In seconds, she took in the mass chaos of Kukuri and wranglers scattered in small groups around the edges of the clearing as well as a large pearl rook charging towards her from the right. Something large and unnatural sat astride the larger Kukuri and as they closed the distance between them, Fleur's heart skipped a beat in terror as she realized that it was a rider. Giving in to her rising panic, Fleur broke left, away from the tame rook and her guardian. Blinded by terror, she never saw the rift in the rock until she fell into it. As she fell, Fleur was practically deafened by the crack of a gun and the piercing agonised roar of Ellie and Nori.
As she landed on a ledge, she could almost feel the massive pearl dove hit the ground. Dazed, Fleur peeks up through the branches that concealed her and froze in terror. The pearl rook stood over the fallen body of Ellie and Nori, his horned rider looking down at them from his vantage point. Down but not out, Ellie and Nori hiss and snarl defiantly despite the extraordinary pain searing through their left leg. Blood ran like a stream down her leg and spread upon the snow. Loss of blood, shock, cold and pain were beginning to take their toll. Ellie snapped at MoonDog as Fleur's vision blurred then faded into blackness as she slipped into the cold embrace of oblivion

I don't have much of a blip of story myself XD But! This is around the time when Moondog really realizes that he enjoys hunting his own kind. There is a specific thrill he gets stalking, hiding and striking, and something he never realized he would enjoy until he came to the grasp of Spider, his handler, who uses Moondog as an essential tool to rounding up kukuri and other animals. This is one of his first BIG hunts! Even if he's not horribly big or fast, Moondog has proven himself a vicious adversary to those who have developed a target on their heads, and he will go to all lengths to acheive those endeavors. He's not heartless always.... But this is a job that he takes very seriously, and he will always take advantage of the night to capture something or someone.
He has realized his worth and his joy... to hunt the most complex and difficult of creatures.

You're welcome! I tried a new technique with the lighting and took inspiration from Sakamerel's shading. Much easier than my usual and it looks good. Really gives it that nighttime feel

I love the night lighting, and you are so good at stuffing so many kukuri into one piece without making it too much xD
Did wanna mention that you don't have the name of the prompt anywhere which I think is required??

He planned the layout so well it doesn't look crowded at all. I quite enjoyed the new lighting technique. Going to do more of it later on
