Description
Ah yes, another black and white piece that's on my list to color. This one actually has a nice back story behind it, a theory that I stick by.
It's my belief that the Red Eyes Black Dragon is a part of Jounouchi's soul. True, he has a connection to his favorite card, but it's quite different than what Yami shares with Black Magician or Seto with his Blue Eyes.
The Black Magician was created when one of the Pharoah's priests gave up his spirit to protect him, and the Blue Eyes is the manifestation of an albino female named Kisara.
But unlike these two with their respective players, Jounouchi is able to feel his Red Eyes' pain.
My theory:
Jounouchi exsisted in ancient Egypt and that his spirit beast (Red Eyes) was as strong as Blue Eyes. But only a portion of his soul was given up to create the monster, the rest reincarnated. This would also explain how he's able to break through the power of Malik's Sennen Scepter twice and communicate with Yami through the puzzle.
Back to the picture, Jounouchi's soul is rejoining with the Red Eyes. He looks sad because he's losing his humanity, his life in this world.

Wicked cool theory, I like it a lot. The pic goes well with that... would make an interesting fic plot. *Oooooooo*
*blinku* When does he feel the Red Eyes pain?
I thought the Flame Swordsman was his favorite card; that is the one he pics both when Bakura turns them into cards and for his deck master in the Noa arc... I just thought the Red Eyes was special because 1) it was the card he won from his very first win in Duelist Kingdom and 2) because it's the " counterpart" to Kaiba's Blue Eyes, emphasizing their rivalry even further.
Oh course, that's just plain observation, not reading anything past the surface. I'm sure I'm missing somehting along the way. And I REALLY like your theory...

Okay...
Remember when Malik takes over his mind/memory? And Yugi summons REBD to bring him back, only to have Jou viciously and callously attack his own creature?
In the original Japanese, he feels RE's pain.
The whole thing with Bakura, he turns into Flame Swordsman because A) this whole duel is based off of the tabletop RPG thing Bakura does in the original manga - turning everyone into little D& D-esque figurines, and B) he couldn't very well turn into a dragon for that duel.
And as for Noa's Arc, he passed RE to Yugi and I'm sure that his dragon wasn't offered up in the card tables.
You can tell I've had plenty of time to flesh out my theory.
What a geek be I~!

Ah, see, there's another reason for me to get the subbed ASAP. I still can't believe the dub cut out Mai slapping Jou! I mean, come on! >.<
I knew what the Bakura-thing was based on, I remember seeing that info on a Bakura-centered site. Apparently the manga version (with the game pieces instead of the cards) has been animated as a seperate anime, too.
Okay, good point... Yugi DOES have the Red Eyes throughout Battle City since Jou wanted it to show his support for Yugi and so that Yugi would always have Jou's strength with him, or something like that.
Okay, yeah, you make sense. ^_^

It's not that I make sense...
It's that I have no life.

Ack... wrote all that and didn't comment on the pic itself. >.<
Interesting blend, though the feet look really freaky... He looks sad, but since that's what you were going for, it works. I like the placement of the plating... Is this in mid-melding or is this the final on how he would look, do you think?

That's so fricken cool! I guess when you have the whole transformation thing going on you tend to give up on clothes. I mean that tail of his must have ruined his only pants. e-e
Jou: *Gains tail*
Seto: Nice boxers, Jou
Jou: Neep! That's it. I give up on clothes. *Sits down and pouts*
Well at least that's my take on it. The half and half thing is really cool. I do this all the time in writing and attempt it with drawing. It's a special skill to get it looking this good in pictures. Nice job. Instant

Metalic?
It's more the darkness and shadows, but I suppose it's all along the same lines.
And with the Yami CG experiment a success, I think I may try this one with that technique.
