Description
Download for full size. This is a tip Sheet with some useful info I learned about how to simplify anatomy in school, I'm simply sharing what I know. : )
In school my teacher told us a very important concept. Don't do the details until you have a solid structure done ,otherwise everything will fall apart.(something like that)This means, the best way to start a picture is by blocking in the basic form/shape/structure to get an idea of what the image will look like, If the image looks good then the final stage whould be adding the details.
-Please note that this is very general, it's very brief and it's not the only way to simplify anatomy.
This tip sheet mainly focuses on simplifying the general male and female anatomy so that artist with difficulty drawing a gender would have a better idea of their differences.
Also My advice to my fellow artist is to use references, nude references are preferred or if u can, attend life drawing sessions ^^
If you have any questions about this tutorial feel free to post below and I'll get back to you asap.

That's useful, I used to sketch skipping basic figure outline concepts- it's more time consuming doing so but its worth it to have a good structureΒ

Thank you so much for this!!
I'm trying to expand from drawing 'just animals' and would really like to get into drawing some people.
Honestly; just to draw some of my favorite superhero's.
Could I ask a question??
Which gender do you think is good to 'start' working on?
Male?? Female??? Or both at the same time?? I'd seem to think breaking one gender at a time, and practicing one at time would be better? But what do I know?? Opinion?

From my experience, I'd say try practicing both, and don't limit yourself to drawing one gender. I'm currently in a position where I am unable to draw guys and end up making them have girly hips. ^_^" But then again, I'm not that great of an artist and I didn't make this tutorial, so maybe you might not want to listen to me ^u^" Good luck, though, whatever you decide!

I completely agree. it's better to work on both. no matter how uncomfortable you may feel with one of the genders.
(I had the same problem where the guys would get these girly hips. Then I kind of got used to drawing guys and forgot how to draw girls properly xD. Nowadays I'm trying to practice both in order to keep the balance.)

I'm the opposite. I drawn so many guys for my comic, that I have to draw girls three or four times before I fell good about it. Sakimichan is right though, try going to drawing sessions. If you can't find any, find a friend or draw people on the street. All you're trying to do is capture the simplified form of the person.
After awhile you'll know what you need work on.

ok, iΒ΄m really glad to find people like you ready to share!, amazing job, by the way, a question: you think itΒ΄s better to master one gender at a time or working on both? iΒ΄m trying both but i feel like iΒ΄m slowing down to much...
