Description A cockatrice is a mythical beast, essentially a two-legged dragon with a rooster's head. Described by Laurence Breiner as "an ornament in the drama and poetry of the Elizabethans", it featured prominently in English thought and myth for centuries.

It was a tough decision wether to draw this or Cerberus. In fact, there's actually a fair amount of pretty cool monsters starting with the letter "C".
However, you and I knew I would eventually pick the freaky chicken over any other. We all knew.

Oooh you're doing a mythical creature for every letter of the alphabet, that's awesome! I've had that idea myself but I have yet to start it. Great choice of the Cockatrice instead of Cerberus, it's a really underrated beast.

It would need to be able to lay eggs for one to do that, actually. Β According to legend, a cockatrice is born of a shell-less egg laid by an elderly rooster, and incubated by a toad.
