Hmm! I'm finally getting to look at this!

When I was 16, I started drawing and I was about where you were at 14, and well, your color work at 17 kicks my butt pretty much even now.

You say that progress over 10 years has been slow, but you've got to remember that you started VERY young, and kids aren't able to do what adults can do, unless they are supernaturally gifted or they are trained very hard from a very early age.

Heck, I wasn't able to draw what I can draw today until I was halfway through college. There was a very rapid improvement in my work between 2002 and 2003, because that was when I began my studies at UCF as an art major.

For you, the difference between 2005 and 2006 seems to be your watershed time period where you improved quickly and your style solidified. The improvement over the last 3 years has been steady and gradual, and one needs to look at the difference between 2006 and 2009 to see how much you've improved.

Your composition, layout, lineweight, form, and texture have all improved quite a lot over the last three years, and you're now doing well what you knew you wanted to do but might have struggled with 3 years ago. Your color quality has improved and become more sophisticated, and you've generally improved on everything from proportion to expression to hands and feet.

Seriously, you've made some really strong gains in ability!

Yeahhh! thank you ;A; yeah 2005 was when I was on my oekaki kick and I drew everyday. O_O; I was pretty uch addicted to drawing. Sometimes I had to sneak on in the middle of the night because my parents would scold me XD. shhh..
Right now improvement is going to be slow cause I feel like I have the basics down, but I need to enhance it a bit as well as have a stronger grasp on anatomy. I feel like I'm lacking in detail as well. i get really impatient when I draw nowadays. ^_^
Thanks for looking at this

Sure thing I think that this is where it might feel like you're moving slowly, but you're actually just polishing and refining what you already do well, and work on that which you don't do as well as you would like to. I like to think of it as sort of like sculpting, where the most visibly noticable transition is going from a block of marble to a rough form, since the difference is so huge between the two (and there's a hell of a lot of work involved in getting it that far). Then, one begins to chip away at the form to start revealing the desired surface, which also takes a lot of time and effort, and the difference is still impressive. But at some point, the average viewer of the piece will say, "Wow that's great, if I were the artist, I'd be happy with it right like that!" even though there's still a lot of work to be done.

You're more like at the polishing stage where you've revealed the surface, but it is still a bit too rough for what you want, and you're getting rid of rough edges and working on parts that you feel aren't well-formed yet. Honestly, this is a painstaking process, and you might feel like you're spending a lot of time going very slowly moving from one piece to the next, but I think that the progress you are making now is still visible.

Eventually you'll get to a point where you don't believe anyone can see the changes you are making, and a lot of people probably can't see it, though they might 'feel' it instead. The trained eye will still be able to tell, but don't let that frustrate you ^.^ Just keep pushing ahead!

Wow, very nice improvements~! I was 17 in 1999..and only a little bit better at that point, too.. ;__; You really improved around 2001~2002, and mostly perfected it around 2007...2003-06 must have been difficult to go through if you were worried about improvement by then(otherwise doing that well for those ages would have been great for me). I'd do something like this myself if I had some time and energy to do it... >.>;

nuuu I'm sorry. the same thing happened to me when i was working on one of my Joseph yusra comics. and I was finished inking and toning and was just about to do touch ups xD Then electricity went and when I re-opened it I realized I hadn't saved since the rough sketch.

Ouch, that's even worse, having to do actual drawing... I was just drag-and-dropping and scaling it into small boxes(it was just tedious and involved choosing a lot of different pictures for those three hours)..
