one minor flaw here (or major, really, but i'll be polite). your shading sticks out the lines doesn't it, which isn't professional in the slightest. if you wanted this technique to work then you'd need to use a clipping mask, or at least erase the areas that have gone out the lines. otherwise it just doesn't look good.

in photoshop when you do a shading layer, you add a layer on top of the layer that you want to shade (i do every part of a picture on a different layer for this reason). say like, a skin layer, a clothes layer, a hair layer, etc. for the shading layer, you click 'layer > new > layer' and when the new layers box comes up, i name it 'shade - skin' or clothes etc etc lol and click the box beneath the part you name it in that says 'use previous layer to create clipping mask'. it will appear as a layer with a little black arrow pointing to the one below it, showing which layer it is attached to.
when you draw on this layer, you will only be able to draw wherever there is colour underneath, which means if your base colouring is neat and tidy then your shading will be too if you erase any part of the base layer then the clipping layer erases also, so if you were a bit untidy then you can get rid of it all easily.
like i said, i'm working on some sort of tutorial that has clipping masks invloved so you could just check back to my page sometime if your intrested.
