I was taught right from wrongBy a murderer
I was taught truth from lies
By a magician
I was taught who my friends were
By my enemy
I was taught to be honest
By a professional liar
I was taught to always speak my mind
By being told to keep quiet
I was taught to be kind
By someone that beat me down
I was taught to smile
By someone who could never wipe a scowl of their face
I was taught to love
By being abused
I was taught to live
By someone who was already dead
I was taught to perform
By someone with stage fright
I was taught to be excellent
By someone that failed in everything
I was taught to rely on only my self
By being surrounded with people
I was taught to be perfect
By those that wanted to see me fail
I was taught to be loyal
By everyone that ever walked out of my life
I was taught to make people happy
By everyone who ever made me miserable
I was taught to control my temper
By those with explosive tempers
I was taught to take care of myself
By those who tried to kill me
I was taught what matters to me
By those that took it all away
I was taught how to be a girly girl
By a bunch of boys
I was taught how bad modern medicine can be
By a drug addict
I was taught who deserved my heart
By having my rib cage shattered
I was taught to stand center stage
By having my shoulders disjointed
I was taught not everyone is as nice as they seem
By having my wrist taken out
I was taught how far people are willing to go
By seeing him dying
This may not makes sense to everyone
But to those it does
They know, just like me
Betrayal is the best teacher
And, what doesn't kill you defines you

Never have I been able to say what you have written. You are taught to be better by seeing the worst. You stand up when you have fallen down. You begin to live after feeling like you're dead. It's about never giving up.

It is and it isnt...I still deal with some of the people on a every now and then basis...but when i was younger they had all the control and now they have very little

I'm glad to hear it is nearly gone. I only just rid myself of my version of the destructive people listed here, and I already feel amazingly independent and in control.

Yes it is! It is very liberating to make that final decision that you're living for yourself now, and no one else. I used to try to please everyone around me and it just made me completely miserable. It's amazing to finally be happy

There's still some people I want to make happy but it is cause they are my real friends not cause I have to...I think that's the nicest change

Oh yes, there are people I want to make happy, like my husband and daughter, but I mean no longer wasting my time trying to make people happy who really just want to see me suffer. I'll put an effort in for those who actually try to make me happy in return

and i thought so too, it's actually from a tale about how the greek gods of darkness nyx and erebus birthed the twin gods of light aether and hemera. so darkness literally birthed and taught light in that instance

I agree with almost all of that - but ultimately I agree completely with the truth behind this. Unfortunately not everyone learns how to bring good out of the bad... because they can't see what they're doing as wrong. No one likes admitting they're wrong, and hence not everyone learns the way you have. Then again, there always will be bad - for those that can learn good from it.
