Description
It begins with just a tiny spore coincidentally landed on the lizard's skin. Sadly for the lizard, this one is not any ordinary fungi. It's lethal.The fungi slowly infiltrate the body and the mind of the lizard as it grows. Until one day the fungi completely destroys the lizard's brain then turns it into a mindless creature: A zombie.

I take it the fungus is based on the cordyceps genus? Your description of what happened to the lizard matches what the genus does pretty much exactly.
