Exquisite work. The skeins of lighter bands overlaying th patterns are wonderful. Did you achieve that effect through washing out or through a watercolor? It's wonderful, can you go into how you made this?

It is many layers of different watercolour washes ... lighter areas were left as other areas were overlaid. Hard details were over painted at the end. Hope that makes sense!

Part of what I like about a work like this is that it is truly labyrinthine. I like not being able to follow the path of creation, of having to go straight into the work to look around from inside. I very much enjoy the effect of engagement with the surface, the sunken look, and how at the same time it appears to be projecting out, as a tree...it's fascinating...
