Well, the Contessa was a wealthy Warden working for for Interpol. She turned her dead-husband's property into a prison (or rather a "rehabilitation clinic" for criminals)

I found it an interesting and a funny yet scary thought to have the conte and teh contessa as two separate characters and them meeting.
