this is my very first submission to DA woooooohoooooo, i made this in photoshop cs5 and i have no idea how long it took cause i started it 2 weeks ago but i didnt spent a lot of time on the computer cause Ive been very busy as it is my senior year and all. i know its not perfect heck i don't even know if its good but im still learning and discovering new tools everyday, did you know that the smudge tool is incredible?
i'd really appreciate it if you'd take the time to critique my artwork it would mean a lot to me.thanks for viewing

edit: i finally fixed it, well only the things that you guys pointed out like the shading and the lips and the hair, i think it looks much better now so i want to give a sincere thank you to all the people who commented on this picture i truly couldn't have done it without you
i sound like i just won the Oscar XD

This is beautiful! I know nothing of digital art, so it always impresses me when I meet someone who does. And can I just say that I love her hair? That light almond/minky brown you used for the midtone is one of my favorite colors on earth. Not a 'traditional' favorite color, but I don't think that can be helped, haha. Lovely drawing!!

second i think it's awesome that you like almond brown cause that shows that you're unique and brown reminds me of coziness and warmth so i think its a lovely color too
and last i cant say that i know alot about digital art, most of the time i'm just winging it

This is really good! I love this. T-Sweazys one of my favorites.
If I had one suggestion it would be that her eyelashes look a little clumpy up top, as if she has on way too much mascara. You could possibly in the future have the eyelashes taper off. That's just my opinion though.

as for a critque i would say that her lips need more blending and softening towards the outside because they look kinda stuck on there. And her jumper arm things need more shading compared to her face which is very well shaded.
but overall very very good especially for your first submission

thanks for the comment and as for the hair, i thought i'd do a dark base first then add the highlights and whatnot but i guess it could use some more highlights

did you use filter->blur->surface blur? surface blur makes life a lot easier

so what exactly does surface blur do other than blur the surface? XD i mean how would it be useful in this picture?

surface blur creates patches of color with sharp boundaries, giving the image a painted/vector look
