Description Because she always is.

Even if she's a mathematician.

Anyway, let's have a bit of viewer interaction here. It's unfinished. What *am* I going to draw on the left? Because I refuse to draw an ickle fairy. Or even a nasty, evil, scheming fairy.

Perhaps I should draw pies, or ees, or even eels. Or hefty logs. Help!

Niceee I love portraits <3 so uber-happy you have made me
Hm, no idea about the background, because I always get kind of twisted ideas, that people don't consider normal :/

I know you do, and you've made me uber-jealous of yours.

Like what? Bubble-bath and candles? I can see it getting worse than that, personally. *grin*

Oiiiii no making fun of bubble baths! THAT was in the book, anyway. Believe me, if it were up to me, I'd have drawn a much more, let's say... interesting... background. Ah, woe is me
Meh, personally, what came to mind was a mirror, with her reflection in it, but in a twisted, decaying form, with the world behind her also distorted... *lalala*

How are the applications going? Where did you apply? And to study... art? Or perhaps English? I can see you doing both...

I almost forgot to ask. What about you?

salmonofdoubt In reply to fishygirl [2006-10-25 12:05:23 +0000 UTC]

Hmm. I don't think I'll ask for your definition of 'interesting' this time around.

That's a fantastic idea. Problem being, it would take a disgusting amount of time and effort to do it properly. Oh well, I've got a week to play with. We'll see. Thanks for the suggestion.

My applications are DONE. (Hurrah!) I'm not telling you where I've applied, in case I don't get in. *grin* But they're all unis in the UK.

Actually, I'm doing chemistry. And if you ask me in nine-and-a-half-hells why, I have an answer all prepared because I've used it so many times.

THen I would indeed like to know your reasons...? : )
Haha. I'll bet you tried Oxford or Cambridge... good for you! Good luck
Though so secretive... tsk tsk. Hey, shame about art/English... you really are so good...
I applied to the UK as well... can't decide between first choice of Leeds or London... I love London, never been to Leeds, but London is expensive :S Also, the courses differ slightly. However, mostly it's a combo of Japanese/French/Social anthropology... we'll see what I'm offered... :/

What is it with all the arty people I know wanting to study anthropology?

Anyway, here goes:

I like chemistry because it contributes so much to almost every aspect of everyday life. Whether we're talking about synthesising fabrics or making alcohol, very practical things, chemistry has invariably been involved in the process. It is why these things occur on a molecual level, and how that I want to learn about.

Seriously? I just think it's fun. And I like the way a lot of the theories are informed guesswork.

Anyhow! Leeds is apparently very nice, but seeing as I live in London, I'll be biased towards it. Any particular unis you were thinking of?

fishygirl In reply to salmonofdoubt [2006-10-26 20:21:20 +0000 UTC]

True, I used to love Chemistry too...
until I got Mr Lowndes instead of Mr Wahab when they moved me up from FOundation to Higher Science 8( Such a disappointment <_<

I'm biased towards London too I was thinking of SOAS (part of UCL) in particular. And it's *social* anthropology. THat's different from simple anthropology... though that course is only on offer at SOAS, and I'll need 36 or 38 points at IB to get it, which is, technically... HARD. We'll see, at any rate...

What! You preferred Mr If that line's straight, I'm bent (it was straight, incidentally) to The Polar Bear? Mr L was a fantastic teacher. Bit glacial, but brilliant. Then again, I don't recall ever doing chemistry with him, just biology.

Yes! Come to London... I've actually applied to UCL as well, although I have yet to visit it. Silly really, considering the fact that I live less than half an hour away.

I've never understood the IB system. What're points based on? Are they a bit like UCAS points as opposed to A-level grades?

Anyhow, best of luck.

I have no idea. Am I still allowed to comment? (Well, too late if I'm not.)

I haven't seen you do pencil drawings for ages, and this one is lovely!

You stole my line! I demand compensation in the form of apples. Many apples.

I was banking on you being able to offer a suitably random suggestion. No matter. I may well stick with what was in the original image, with a few adjustments - I don't see it getting much funnier than that.

And thanks.

tseia In reply to salmonofdoubt [2006-10-25 16:20:10 +0000 UTC]

Which is your line? I do have many apples though, however I feel that sending them through the post is perhaps not the best idea.

I tried to come up with something, but everything I thought of would have just spoilt the picture. I had a similar idea about a mirror actually, just with another face actually looking back. Or something.

Too late if I'm not.

Too late! Besides, she'd have killed me if she ever saw a drawing of herself gazing soulfully into a mirror. This way, I'll only annoy everyone else who *was* there. But they're all slightly less adept with a craft knife than she is.

You could draw one of your Favourite Thingsβ„’.

Or, pumpkins. I've been inhaling pumpkin pie spice for a few days now, trying how to figure out how to write about it.

So, I vote, Pumpkins.

Go away.

That's reminded me, I still haven't attached an object to this project. Unless it's paint.

Ooh, what about a flying pumpkin pie! Sounds good to me.

Pumpkin pie sounds really, really good. You could make it a thanksgiving piece.

That'd be...nifty.

Mmm, it's that time of year. Oh, is that why you're having so much of the stuff? It's a bit like Christmas and having to eat turkey for a month afterwards, I suppose.

I'm thinking the original image with a little angelic pumpkin pie flying in the air.

Actually, I'm being challenged to write something containing the color orange and the scent of pumpkin pie spice. Sprinkling it on the typewriter paper doesn't count, so I have to actually figure out a way to incorporate it.

Though, sprinkling it on the typewriter paper may prove to be interesting. ^_^

That's easy enough. Halloween dinner, Who stole the punpkin from the pumpkin pie! with cute little puppies trained to pick up spice scent, Agatha Christie style.

Hang on, what's this actually for? Fun, a speech, an essay, a dissertation....?

Why moss particularly? Do I sense strange obsessions?

A bus-stop in Bromley. Hmm. Not a bad idea. Not exactly something I'd care to stare at for more than a minute or so, though.

Then again, it's probably easier to portray than sec(x).

Sorry, I'll stop the bad jokes.

By the way, Bromley's lovely. I just used it 'cause it alliterates with 'bus'.

Bromley is in Greater London, or Kent. Probably both, actually. It's in the south-easterly direction of London.
