Almost doesn't cut it, still tons of work to do and tons of stuff to learn
I think I can break concentration on technique improvement alone and do stuff that is solely concept art related and study the ways of presenting ideas and how to conceive the best ones. Thanks for the support Genny

There are always new horizons to conquer.
That's pretty much cool. I am sure you will do well, you have enough imagination needed for any concept, so go ahead and draw.
You are welcome, you should remember to give yourself some credit too, when you do something successful.

Thanks for the nice comment, Genny
Always good to hear something from you!
Yeah, I need to accredit myself more often. There is this mentality that I caught of looking at your work and no matter how good or bad it is, to say that it's not enough and that's it's a FAILURE. Well, maybe it's not enough but it is certainly not a complete failure. Have to be less harsh with myself.

You are welcome, and thanks.
That is quite bad mentality, I used to do this a lot to myself for many years, and the only thing it made me, is to feel down, unsatisfied and uninspired.
So yeah, you should be less harsh on yourself. You work real hard, practice a lot and there are good results to your work. Many people would feel inspired to see your art, and not many can reach that level already. It is true that there is always something new to learn, but it will be like that even when you will be super-duper professional too. So instead of thinking of failures think of your work, as something nice you've done, and think what you need to do better and to practice on, so next time it will be not only nice for your liking but also amazing.

I think this mentality is common among artists.
I heard somebody say that all artists must have had a traumatic something happen to them or a bad childhood in order to become artists. We do have issues I guess, I'm not sure if it's universally applicable for all of us out there.
Genny, again, thanks for the support! I'm taking more action in my life and it feels great. Applied to two studios this week, one is an internship that I applied for today. I didn't know such things existed in Israel, but here it is. I'll let you know if luck shines my way

Indeed that attitude is quite common. I don't think that all artists had some special traumas in their lives, I just think they might be much more sensitive as individuals, compared to the rest. So they might feel much more pain regarding each unpleasant experience... But yet I think it is not only that, it is the lack of self-confidence that make us think negative stuff about what we do. It's origins might be our own or might be imposed on us by others, but either way it is something we should fight off and never to give in again. I am starting to feel better about my stuff too lately. And it makes me want to paint more.
WOW! So how did it go? Did you get into the internship? I did not know such things excised in Israel too. How did you find it?

When I say trauma I don't mean only blunt traumas like being hit by a car. It can be a parental divorce, being ignored as a toddler, experiencing something negative and lasting perhaps. Just a theory of course..
You have to search for these things. They don't come up on job boards, and good that they don't. Less competition. Actually most of the jobs aren't posted anywhere (some article said it might be up to 80% of available jobs, so that only 20% of the jobs are posted to job websites and boards and that about 80% of the population competes for those jobs).
The internship was for nothing related to art so during the interview I told them I'm not interested.

Well, I did mean those too.... I know I had some traumas, I just don't think I'm the only one...
I see, you have to become an art ninja.
Oh.... That's pity.

saltytowel In reply to LimeGreenFay [2013-11-22 16:11:41 +0000 UTC]
You can do the homework and pretend you're studying at the same college, it matters little if you actually are or not since the document in the end will have no value at all if you're no good at creating excellent top notch concepts.
Anyway, the homework was to choose one of 5 (I think) subjects of interest and design a frame for the theme. I chose Dr. Frankenstein's lab.
