SOoooooooooooo I drew this with a computer mouse... :'DIt's my OC Mano, who is supposed to be my manshark/sharkboy/angrysharkman baby but I accidentally drew him as like...a mansharkserpent LOL OOPS SRRY BBY <3

I'm like the opposite of everyone else. I've always used a mouse and I just get frustrated trying to use a tablet. They always seem to have a lag to them and if i'm holding a pencil type thing, i want to look down at it while i draw, not up at the screen.

I completely understand where you're coming from. It took me years to get used to using my tablet. Using the mouse again, it was sort of like riding a bike, haha. You never forget, but you're a bit unstable at first xD If it's lagging, that's another issue entirely. Could be the tablet. Could be your computer. Could be the drivers. Could be the general connection. Some debugging would help to figure out that problem. The more you practice with it though, the better you'll get at it. It was definitely a struggle at first, no doubt. I started off doing mostly doodles and just fiddling with Photoshop. I purposely didn't do full/complete drawings since those took too long and I didn't have the mileage with the tablet. Doing a lot of small nothing drawings got me further than a few larger pieces would have.

oh good it's not just me! I have considered saving up for one of those laptops where you can draw directly on screen, but man they get pricey. I think i could handle that better, but since i'm fine with the mouse, no need to fix what's not broken i guess.

Those laptops aren't even as good as an actual tablet, least from my experiences. They're not built to be for drawing, they're just built to be a tablet+computer. You'd be better off getting a higher end tablet (like a Cintiq) than one of those. It will still have a learning curve though, don't be fooled. Drawing with a tablet, even if it's on screen, is definitely not the same as drawing with traditional tools. In either case, you'll have to adjust. The main difference between cheaper/standard tablets and the screen ones is just separating the hand from your eyes. It doesn't take long if you spend the time to work at it to get accustomed to that aspect though, if you're patient enough.
Though in the end, if you're happy with a mouse, nothing wrong with sticking with a mouse

Putting yourself down as such is the best way to never improve. I started out drawing stick figures and worked my ass off to get here. Get back on the horse and keep drawing if you want to get better.

It was surprisingly a lot of fun! It took a little bit to get used to, but I adjusted pretty quick. I'd definitely be willing to try again
