Description
dragon sorceress pathfinder, dnd 3.5+closeups
wow!
where did this come from? i suddenly found myself obsessed with finishing this piece. every evening this week I've come and worked on it. no skipping over detail, no rushed bits, i even did more work on the nose!! i hate noses!!
well i took a level of oracle in pathfinder and i can do freaky stuff like speak with powers that be and such. My fiancee and glug said they imagined this scene with her eyes whited out so i figure what the hell. OH! and thats automatic writing she's doing there by the way :3

Wowee wow wow wow, I keep telling myself you get better with every piece, this one is defenitely proof!
I love what you did with the colours here, looks both alive and mystical, the background just brings this out even more.
The colours are very smooth however, this makes hard lines like across her arms and a little on her foot stand out, while a minor detail people tends to notice that.
The drapes on the cloth are superb! along with the embroidery it looks like something that would take me years to accomplish... if ever e.deviantart.net/emoticons/let⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

All in all a very nice piece, best I've laid eyes on in a while. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/t/t⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

took your advice and reworked it a little. those lines are the original line art but the colouring and shading has made most invisible save a few so i've blended them.
thanks for the crit and the awesome comments

Got to admit, this is easily one of your most stunning pieces. The pose may seem a little too static and the front angle very ordinary but somehow I don't mind. Somehow.
You put a lot of work into the colouring and it really does pay off. The background makes it look very mystical which is in contrast with the amount of detail you put into the clothing (and the accessories). Weird enough but I even like the rough transition between some of the colours on her skirt. My only point of critique would go to the hair - there are strands yet they seem to kind of fade with whatever's behind them. Sure, blonde hair tends to be partly transparent but this seems a bit too "animeish" (where eyes are commonly visible underneath the hair (is ok sometimes but a tedious stereotype overall (for me that is))).
Her expression is also fitting. This is where the "value" of the front body position come into play (not taking into account you get a good view of her boobs) - the way she stares blankly at the viewer creates a sort of a connection and draws him (her) in. Maybe there could be some signs or something on the parchment but I'm sure you've thought it through and decided you made the best out of it.
In conclusion - maybe a point down for the hair and the pose partly. Otherwise - excellent. Keep up the great work! Sorry, I'm just used to end my comments in encouraging phrases. >_>

why thank you very much
the static pose is partly on purpose. the original pose was much more relaxed and shumped but i wanted the pose stiff like a possession. as for the hair, thats laziness on my part, i haven't deleted the unnecessary lineart and accidently left it in :S
Values are still something I'm learning, it works in some areas here and not in others. i saw at the wrong parts trying to figure out how best to amend it for my next piece.

Whoa Elixia, I have got to say that if you keep stepping up your game I won't know what to do!
The purplish-silver aura just radiates mystery. The glowing eyes are captivating. Details like the stitching in the cloak, folds of the clothes, and even the few stray strands of hair peeking out from the cloak is remarkable. I love the accessories such as the bell bracelet, the cloak clasp, necklace, and little dangling stars and moons from the cloak. Makes me want to play a Oracle-like character just so that I can use this image as a reference.
Only things I noticed that catches my eyes as seeming 'wrong' would have to be the quill pen seemingly having a longer shaft then what I am accustomed to seeing [not a biggie since there are all sorts of different types of quills with varying lengths]. Along with the bracelet on our right her left wrist seeming bent on the top, and somewhat fat/thicker on the side.
All in all yet another wonderful piece that makes the New Year a nice start and hints at many more from you in the future.
[also, can you guess where I looked first? XD]
