My entry for the SatAM contest at

The idea of the contest was to draw a Shadow/Sally scene in a SatAM situation, so that got me thinking that if Shadow had been in SatAM he might not have been a creation of Robotnik's grandfather. Given how dark the SatAM Robotnik is he possibly wouldn't have cared about a grandfather, he'd want a way to take Sonic down here and now. So he'd probably create Shadow himself.

Here Sally has walked upon the unawoken Shadow. He was created by a combination of Sonic and Ixis Naugus's genes but he still isn't complete because Robotnik thinks with that kind of combination he'd turn traitor on him.

She feels sorry for him because she knows that he will be faced with a life of fighting the Freedom Fighters, so she makes one of the few rash decisions she's ever made and decides to break him out. Of course since Shadow is incomplete when he comes to be in the real world he's a little confused and there will be problems.
