I was going to say that the composition feels a little odd, though I like the atmosphere. Then I saw that it was painted from a stock photo and it all made more sense. Pretty colors, and you do get a nice sense of distance from your painting!

I have a pre-schooler so I havn't been able to go out and do life studies so some of the amazing stock photos have been the next best thing. Sometimes I get some difficulty performing so try to do stuff like this to keep things ticking over until it resolves itself.
The original photo was a nice choice of shot, it makes want to go wonder down to the bottom by the water and explore XD

Thanks :3 There's quite a lot of depth lost on the left side of the trees, it was probably a bit ambitious for a re-starting practice. The photo looked like a nice place though.
I wonder what kind of pictures you'll come back with since it sounds like you're going to have a busy year ahead ^_^ You didn't even finish writing up on Japan yet? lol

Indeed, a busy couple of months ahead! And yes, my Japan blog updates have been horribly slow - which is why I plan to update DURING my UK trip instead, before I forget/procrastinate too much, LOL. I'm working on a final smashed-together Japan post now.
