Description
If your socks have just exploded, I apologize. XDOtherwise, this is the big thing I have been keeping secret for many, many months, and have been working tirelessly at, on and off, until its completion today - An animated Pennsylvania Railroad T1 Duplex 4-4-4-4 Steam Locomotive, rendered painstakingly in my scale of pixel train artwork to a point where I can say it is as accurate as I can possibly muster, with both sides sporting unique details applied after thorough visual research.
While unnumbered, (And professionally lettered by Dr. Betchkote), this locomotive in particular is styled off early production T1s that were constructed with full streamlining, but have connected hand railings on the nose. I elected to keep it almost completely greyscale, as the paint of a real T1 was almost impossible to replicate off of the scarce color photographs available on the internet.
And, yes, rendering the wheels and rods in different placements to simulate rotation was a tedious undertaking. I believe it turned out quite well though.

Thank you. Doing the T1 was my first venture into pixel animation, and was quite a learning experience as a whole.

Yes indeed. Enough so that people are working on building another one.

Nice work. Oh, and did you know that there are currently plans on building a new T1 locomotive like this one?

Thanks and yes I am aware of the T1 project.
Going to require a lot of money and steel, yeah.

I'm kinda upset that the drivers aren't in sync, but this is good!

That wouldn't be real for the driver sets to be in sync, especially under load and with varying track conditions. Seek a video of the T1s operating, and you'll see the ever-common wheelslip of likely the front set of drivers contending with half of the locomotive's 5000hp working against a couple hundred tons behind.

Any kind of synchronized lineup would be circumstantial and won't last.

Contrary to that, I've actually only seen one clip of a T1 having wheelslip. But yeah, with the way they were driven, having the wheels in sync would be rare.

One recorded home film of a class of 52 that only existed for a few years. I'm sure the Pennsy wasn't totally willing to show the public their motive power losing traction and damaging wheels and track.

I have always loved these, such a shame none were preserved.
If I do recall though, there is a trust fund to replicate one.
Β I have a ten wheeler with the shark nose stream lining in my gallery, feel free to inspect.

I agree my friend, but making looping smoke that looks good in motion would be particularly difficult, as you can imagine. :]
