...I would totally love to see a music video done to a happy song, with some sexy woman singer (like Gwen) dancing her way out of a burning building with total class while timbers fall around her, etc...
The effect of her being a prisoner really comes through here, although it doesn't feel serious. She seems like a go-go girl to me, almost, except that the dress is too modest. I hope that's okay. o-o
The image plays sex appeal against a grungy background, and that just makes me think "gay dance club," only it's a girl in a pretty dress. The hard lines of all the stuff around her, contrasted with her curves, only furthers this effect.
It's definitely not something I'm used to seeing exactly, and it's uniquely you. It gives me a really unsettling feeling, and I don't quite know why.

i have been singing that song since i read this comment hah! that sounds pretty sweet and like something i would like. I worried people would think of the dancer girls in the cages actually... though she didn't look like one at all. I like to play with grunge and pretty girls hah and I'm glad you can see something me in my work 
I think in this picture everything plays against my subject and yet it has a flow but with all the lies intersecting and different then her flow. that's perhaps the unsettling feeling?

She certainly gives the feeling of a caged bird. Either the fact that she does appear to be in a cage or (if you take that concept further) how it looks like she is getting out of the cage. Cause honestly, that's what caged birds always do.

My vote is on the color. The b&w is good and there are a lot of interesting lines but I think the desaturated colors just tip the scale for me.
