Description
;-; I really wanted to fit the whole title! When does it start, and where will it end?
sigh, I'll get over it...
Circles really don't scan, even if they did, the clay was too large- so another photo I took!
Everything's hand done; from the clay, to the ceramic pencil drawing, and then the glazing. And for once, im actually pretty damn proud of it
that's pretty creepy, I know. 0.e
But I did put in alot of time and effort, so I hope you like it.
RANDOM FACT
I chose to draw a derp deer out of pure guilt.
about a week before, my mom was driving with me somewhere on the highway (in the country-ish) at about 7AM with just a hint of fog in the air.
then
BAM
this poor doe darts across the road, before my mom had time to hit the breaks. ;-;
she hit the passenger side (me) hard enough for the front end of the vehicle to be totaled, and the deer to fell into a ditch.
I wanted to cry. I couldn't do anything.
--
First time drawing this animal, so I used this lovely picture for a ref.:thumb27011229: thank you ~bugamorph
It was the fact that I made this personal, that I put in so much attention (by far more then all my other art.)
And as a result, this is a favorite for me

very intricate! Sorry about the deer. I saw one die in front of me as well when we lived in the country. They have a majesty to them. You captured that.

Personally an absolutely stunning piece of work if you ask me. It holds an almost magical and otherworldly beauty to it as if it's trying to tell you a story. The only bit of critic I can give is it's body and perhaps back leg needs just a bit more work but honestly absolutely stunning. I think you should be absolutely proud of this work.

It's beautiful. I love the antlers, and the way they don't just come up like a typical buck's would, but instead turn into almost a branch or vine like nature. Great concept, beautiful work!

Excellent photo, your piece is very well brought to attention. The red sheets are a very smooth touch too, they compliment the story nicely.
I'm by no means an expert, but the proportions of this creature seem a little off, like the legs are just a fraction too spindly, maybe something to watch for in future renderings.
Otherwise, this is a very clear depiction of a deer, and a well-designed piece of work.

Thank for taking the time for this comment.
actually, I was trying to make the legs a tadd longer and fragile then normal, but I agree with you- they are... too spindly.
and you can see awkward shading in areas-I don't even know what was going on there.
Anatomy is a weak point I'm still working on.

what a lovely piece! how long does it take you to do something so intricate? it is great for being your first time doing a deer. he turned out very beautiful and elegant. the story behind the piece is sad, but these things happen. at least you did something to honor the deer's life. most people wouldn't stop to think twice about the deer itself, other than to be sad that it ruined their car. Your heart is in the right place

Aww, thank you so much!
Well... this was a school art project split up into 80min classes, twice a week, for about... two months approximately? Too much mental math for the lazy me. orz
personally, I think my best art is brought out when its "for someone"
and it's a big thing for me to help people understand how important animals really are to the world.
but pft, I'm getting a little too "sentimental" here
