Cheers, I'm still learning some new techniques so I'm holding off finishing this as it's a personal favourite.
I'll be sure to send a note when I get it done though. Thanks for the interest.

the faces are interesting. i think the light and shadow needs work. the shadow around the tool on the table works well, but the rest is too soft and inconsistent. it can really help to do new layers just for light and shadow and make sure to pick the direction of the light first. you don't have to keep track of your layers either, just make new ones everytime you want to add an element. keep at it!

o3o Wow... That is awesome. although "Frankenlady" one foot looks like it has white around it. Might be stray colors. But love it otherwise and I can't do any better. xD

I don't really get the steampunk feel on this. Needs more copper, especially the girl could use some pipes and whistles inside her.

I don't like to overdo the steampunk clichΓ©s, though you are correct. I'll keep what you say in mind when I rework it.
It's actually loosely based on a story from a Steampunk anthology, about an man that finds out his wife is not the daughter of a genius inventor, but a creation of.

I can respect you not going overboard with the steampunk stuff. However there is a reason for all the copper when imaging a world without such things like electricity, internal combustion engines or even modern day materials(plastics, light metals, etc). It is a lot easier metal to work with than for example ordinary black iron. You can forge it in fairly cold temperatures, you can solder it with tin and it doesn't corrode like iron. All of these are reasons why you see a lot of copper in steam engines and therefore in steampunk.
Or maybe she is spring loaded.

For one thing she is a lot bigger than he is, is this intentional? There's a bit of flatness in there too, but its a great illustrative piece.

It kind of was deliberate, I didn't want her huge, but she is suppossed to slightly suggest that she's a potential monster.
It is flat isn't it, in my defence this was one of the first digital peices I did, spent a whole week on it. What a terrible defence. My eyes are always drawn to the feet (pun accidental), and I wince upon seeing them.

Fair enough!
Haha yeah just the angles of some of the shapes and lack of shadowing are major flatness-creators from what I've seen. A whole week is a really admirable amount of work, and it sounds like you learned a lot and really came far though. The intense exploration you do in your artwork is enough to justify a measure of pride in it, and the time spent.
I don't think her foot is too bad, though the ankle is probably a little too on the top of her foot by the angle of the toes

Aye, I'm starting to realise that I've been somewhat foolish trying to draw faces directly from my imagination and not using reference photos, as I did here. You can kinda tell I think.
I'm thinking I might just put a gradient masked heavy blur on the bottom 1/4th, to push your away from that area? maybe? you think?
It's all a learning process, I don't ever what to accept anything I do as being perfect or finished. I think that's an insult to my previous advances.

In terms of this image, lighting would definitely help composition or focal points. You should be careful about using blur though - it tends to look obvious and tacky, when an artist should be able to simulate the blur effect mostly without it. Blur is good, but the problem with the computer blur is that it lacks nuance.
Also next time, if you think compositionally, you can make the legs a non-focal point based on where you have them on the page - think about lines leading the eye etc
