Continues from here (timeline after the olympics but before the hunt at Imperial)

Rayne was uneasy. It was strange being somewhere new but she still oddly felt at home here. This vacation, let's call it was needed.. But she still was so unsure what she really wanted to do, where she wanted to be. She headed down to the Kitchen area just wanting to sit somewhere quiet thinking no one was awake given the time it was.
Gabe had stayed over late, after he put his kid to bed, he had gone down to the kitchen to clean up any stray dishes and set away any food left out. As he was going through the kitchen putting things away, drying and enjoying the quiet of the late hours and the crackling of the fireplace, he heard the kitchen door open. He turned to see their guest standing in the doorway. Rayne who seemed more introverted than he and Hrim put together, looked like she was having second thoughts about entering the kitchen.
-Oh please do come in! said Gabe smiling.

Rayne froze for a moment when she realized she wasn't alone.. As Gabe spoke she slowly conceded and walked in. “Sorry i.. Didn't think anyone was around.” She mumbled almost feeling a little lost now that she wasn't alone. Her thoughts weighing heavy.
- Aye, sorry about that. Seems we both like the quiet hours haha! But please, have a sit; He gestured towards the kitchen table. “You look like you could use a cuppa’ tea” He looked at Rayne inquisitively. He could tell something was weighing on her mind, but didn’t want to be nosy about it.. At least not until there was tea and cookies on the table. “So, what kind of tea do you prefer? We have many sorts, for many tastes.”Rayne sighed softly as she took a seat. “Sure thank you i’ll have whatever I'm not picky. “ She sat there quietly. Wishing she couldnt stop herself from looking like shes got shit on her mind.. She doesnt want to trouble anyone with her stupidity - Herbal it is then! At least that’s what I was gonna make for me self, he chuckled under his mustache. He set the kettle on the stove and brought up two mugs. He placed the bag of tea nearby and then from another cupboard he brought up a plate of cookies which he set on the table. He glanced again at Rayne. She looked to be lost in thought. Gabe hesitated a bit, then spoke again.
- Ye look like something is troublin’ you.. I hope am not too bold in asking what it is? Sometimes it doesn’t hurt to have an ear to tell yer troubles to.

Rayne fidgeted a little as he moved around. As he spoke she looked at him quickly, before looking down at the cookies. He was reading her like an open book. “I just.. “ She hated having her feelings out there but.. There was something about Gabe that just made her feel like he would honestly listen. “Im not even sure what im doing..” She mumbled. Gabe took a chair near Rayne and sat down at the old wooden table. He didn’t say anything at first, waiting to see if she’d say something more. But he thought he could recognize the feeling Rayne was beginning to put in words. “Go on?”
Rayne poked at the tea cup a little hesitating a bit. She hated this but… at the same time.. Wanted to get it out.. Needed to get it out. “I .. im just so use to moving form place to place.. And i have been at Rhed moon for so long.. I don't feel like my self?.. But.. somethings.. Just..” She mumbled not really knowing how to put the thoughts out there.
Gabe nodded “Suppose, if you’ve been moving so much, that was your way of life for a long time before you arrived at Rhed, kind of makes sense then that you feel a bit strange about being in the same place for so long.. I was much the same in my youth.. And when I settled here, it was one heck of an adjustment period. Question is, what was it about Rhed Moon that made ya stay for longer than usual?”
Rayne looked at him a moment. What.. was keeping there?.. Sure here horses but Rez and Kanta traveled with her back in the day. It be hard to leave her other horses but horses arent whats keeping her.. “I.. don't know.” she mumbled what the heck was keeping her.

Gabe got up to pour the tea, said nothing more a while, then sat back down with a pondering look. “Hmm, sounds like that’s a question worth finding the answer too. I don’t know if my personal anecdotes help, but for me- the answer was I was happy in my new less nomadic life when it finally dawned on me that my best friends had become my family. Suddenly being settled didn’t feel as strange anymore, just a new chapter of my life. Granted, the wanderlust bug never leaves, but it's satiated with going to shows or on long riding trips. So maybe there’s something there that's important to you, you just need to find out what that is.”
Rayne took a sip of the tea, contemplating everything he said a bit. She wasn't sure really what was truly keeping her there… but he wasn't wrong. She was happy there. Somewhere safe that she didn't have to constantly look over her shoulder. Not only safe for her but for her horses. They were fed, happy, healthy .. maybe if she got there sooner rez wouldnt have the scar on his nose. She took a cookie slowly. Gabe was right.. Really everything he said felt like the honest truth.
