As seen here, some German forces were able to get past No Man's Land and began invading the trenches. The French defenders retaliate and engage in close quarters combat. Using hand tools like shovels and picks, firing their rifles at point blank range, using rocks to pommel the enemy, or simply using the Bayonet to cut through the flesh of the enemy.
