This is a whole team of them because...well I really don't have an excuse. I doodled this like forever ago and never colored it so I did that really really quickly this morning OTL
ANYWAY. This is the color-overs! A totally original team do not steal!!! //shot
I LOVED making color-overs of mew mew pictures when I was a young bab. Most, like these, didn't change a whole lot...a negative filter here, a slight adjustment there, and BOOM ORIGINAL CHARACTER. There are TONS of these kinds of color overs on youtube, and photobucket (which is where I put 90% of mine..X"D) The thing is tho, even if the design is literally changing the colors of an existing character, it kinda set me up for making my actual characters, because after a while just coloring them over really didn't satisfy me...and it is a lOT of effort to color frame by frame of an entire transformation so I learned to be patient (kinda. not rly tbh) (which I did at one point for a contest that was literally about color overs. I won the contest but..OTL I know I deleted my channel a few years later which I'm still mad at myself for)Β

Mew Banana Peel:
+snow monkey DNA
+Good at playing sweet, but is actually..not
+she's a child star so she's really bratty and bossy
+will throw a tantrum if she doesn't immediately get her way
Mew Spearmint:
+Penguin DNA, possibly raised by the penguin from batman because she smells like a sewer
+Half dead because shes an ace student
+In contrast to Mint shes really poor so her grades are all that she can count on for a decent future
+literally hates everyone on the teamΒ
Mew Cranberry:
+snow leopard DNA
+Has a harem like Ichigo, but loves everyone in it
+literally. she misses important battles because shes with someone from her harem LOL
+will flirt with anything that moves honestly
Mew Cabbage:
+deep sea lure-fish DNA
+acts helpless to make people do stuff for her
+actually uses people and is super manipulative
+has probably killed a man
Mew Zakuro:
+its literally zakuro
+why is she here
+who trapped her with these weirdos
+save her

These guys sound like they could be the TMM equivalent of Teen Titans Go X'D Zakuro being the only normal one is hilarious, but I have a few ideas for a possible color-over if you wanna do that. Zakuro means "pomegranate" so maybe her color over could be Mew Granite, a red wolf with rock-solid abs and an extremely manly personality and voice (Think Elfman from Fairy Tail, if you're familiar with that anime). When the team is in trouble she just scoops everyone up and leaps away with a battle-cry. She's been known to pull telephone poles out of the ground and chuck them at her enemies like a spear. Naturally, this is done with a manly battle-cry as well. Though typically stone-faced, she can be sedimental for her teammates at times. It's a marble that they let her on the team despite not meeting the "food name" requirement. Having lived her life in the concrete jungle, she-- aw jeez. That's it. I'm done with these rock puns X'D

I just like the idea of Zakuro being the only actual normal one and being like ??? ? BUT I LOVE THAT IDEA TOO. ITS..PRETTY ROCKIN. That sediments it, Granite is totally a love child of this team and Zakuro. I mean, I might get stoned for it, but reading this comment really made me lose my marbles. I mean coming up with rock puns are totally hard. u know like ROCKS

I think I actually died while reading this and also the creative descriptions! This is the best and I love it! Zakuro lost a bet now she must be on B team I did recolors too I think everyone did at some point and I did a transformation thingy too! (It was a nightmare and I was like I'M NEVER DOIN THIS AGAN!) This is perfect!!

(SAME. the way I did my color over transformation was like...awful...I used Ichigo, but like, I decided she was going to have a leopard tail and printed ears. So I used an overlay on black on like, every layer. Fun fact: theres a lot more black on Ichigo than her tail and ears so it looked like a HOT MESS for a lot of effort X"D)

We all did recolors at some point of something, I think, lol.
I still like to frame-by-frame recolor random crud because I'm a sucker for good editing in movie programs. I don't really use it like an "oc" thing anymore, basically just "I wonder what this would look like if their X was different".
Tbh when I was younger I had a recolor team, too, and I mostly made it just out of trolldom for each genre of OC there was. I might revisit it just to join in this...

Frame by frame recoloring or frame by frame editing in general deserves MAD respect, like. it's so tedious. omg. I've seen a few things where it like, swaps two characters palettes and they call it smth like 'color swap AU' likE A LOT OF THEM ARE REALLY WELL EDITED TOO. It's good content.Β
Recolors are pure and very fun. You should definitely do some and join in on the shenanigans >)

Same?? It was all I'd do when I was younger and people praised them so it made my addiction to them worse
tho if I didnt start with them I'd prob not be here right now still drawing mew mew stuff, so...maybe they're a good thing in the long run? :"DΒ
