Stargazing at the University - an Allegory
This is my first ever complete standalone digital painting.
Its been a humbling learning experience. Such is art.
It was painted 100% in Photoshop, from initial sketches to final product. It is 2 ft wide, and will be available for print shortly.
My original dream was to create an ode to environmental concept illustration - to everything I loved about this realm of artistic exploration.
Specifically, I wanted to create strange, sweeping and beguiling spaces, that allured and... disoriented... the viewer
The final result is an allegory, reflecting on the insights of religion and science, the conflict and the coincidences, and the mutual pursuit of truth, wonder and the mysterious.
I created this work - not for everyone - but for the few who would love it.
(May 3, 2009 - This project is now finished. Moving on!)

I remember when checking this out when it was still sketches and base colors in class. I think it came out well and I like the detail.

I like this very much although the colours do remind me of a peice of game art and the windows the characters are against have that "static mesh" feel.

Thanks! An intriguing insight about the windows. Do you think its the color (does it need more reflected ambient light color)? Or the material of the window structure and its glow/ translucency?
