I've been working on this for the past... 3 weeks? Damn I'm slow.I can without doubt say that this is the biggest piece I've ever done. I reached the layer limit when I was doing the lineart. sjkfjsdsdf
This picture is gonna be so hard to explain. It's Ticki's world (the girl in the front). Hmrrr. In this picture, she's supposed to be younger than I usually draw her. This was before she started to play with dark magic and eventually snapped and created a small world of her own creatures (LOGIC, I KNOOOW RIIITE). Honestly, I think this story sounds incredibly stupid whenever I try to explain it, but it's so clear in my head. .u.
I can say that Ticki and her world is inspired by the game Epic Mickey. And Disney in general. The little Mickey-locking thing in the front left was an old character of mine I decided to give a redesign into a more ¨Disney-looking¨ style. He used to look really creepy. I mean wow. I was a terrible child.
I've been trying to draw in a little more cartoonish style lately. I'd really really appreciate comments and critics on how I can improve.

firstly, My dear mother once told me a long LONG LONG time ago,
the cartoons of old always did insist of being simply simple in design, slap on a shirt and you're a happy man. Whereas in this case,characters are basically made up of basic shapes and varying sizes, organic and wacky, so the idea is to go as wild as you can BUT.. not to extremely difficult or complex, easy on the eyes, loud on the laughs.
proportions don't really play a major influence, however though, it would help majorly in expressions, example,
baby features such as large eyes, a round head can show innocence, the large eyes can show that a person is open and honest, whereas small and half-lidded ones can be for sinister or secret types, like a plotting grand daddy admiral.
colors help immensely, simple and basic shades, rainbows.. they kinda hurt the eyes here and there.. blinded like a flashbang are we?..

Oh yes, many cartoons are very simple, especially the ones from the olden days. 
Exactly! I try to always keep that in mind, I find it really interesting how just the shapes of the eyes and face can change a character so much!
I love bright colors, so I did that on purpose.

of course, and that truly makes each and every single character,oc be he comical or economomical,
the style each and every person fills said characters with, brimming with their own ideas and quips, wits and charms.
suppose though, the "complex simplicity" is not so simple after all.
but i ALSO suppose.. it seems we're all in a hurry to copy the other's styles, not much of a problem honestly, but though, true greatness and mastering of the arts cannot flourish until you embrace your own path. (then again, there are those who's path is to copy others styles and integrate them, very difficult)

Thank you so much for the compliments! QuQ It's definitely my most packed picture. It was twice as big too. I always resize the sketch to 200 percent when I outline, color and shade. I shrink it back when I'm done. .u. Sooo huge, but it's worth it.

Resizing that big most be pain for the computer to load it, I always go for a more larger size so the lineart looks crisp and clean and not blurred...
As I'm speaking i'm doing another birthday picture...but i'll not spoil who it's for X3
