honestly though, it's very simple! you make a new layer above your lines and make sure it's set on clipping group (i use SAI, not sure what it's called in other programs!) and i use the airbrush to make the lighter parts of the lines more colorful and shiny (mainly where the light is touching). also i neat trick i've used for years is the gaussian blur effect in Photoshop. Once im done with the drawing i merge it, duplicate it with a gaussian blur setting, then on top of that I duplicate a third layer and put it on filter>sharpen and adjust the opacity til it looks nice! I hope it makes sense. *v*
