I've had several deviants ask me here and on my HARPG account just how I make my markings, namely dapples and brindles. So, I finally broke down and made a tutorial explaining just what I do. Hopefully someone somewhere will find this useful-- and please, anyone who uses this, let me know-- I'd love to see just what you've created!And yes, I was lazy and used my UotV custom signature base to make this, cause I didn't feel up to redrawing a horse for the means of this tut, lol.

What strength is your smudge tool set at? Can you show me a screenshot of how yours are coming out?

It wasn't the smudging tool I was having problems with, rather the first point of roaning. I got paint blobs instead of flecks. But I solved my problem. My settings on my photoshop must be picky than your's. But thanks any who! ^^ And if you want to see screen shots, their in my scraps.

I love the way you did all of these. I have been scared to attempt dapples on Photoshop but you make this look easy XD

This is brilliant, Paint! I'm definitely bookmarking this for later. Thank you so much! Dapples are always something I have trouble with. No matter how careful I am, they end up looking awkward.

They did for the longest time for me-- it took me a long time to get anything done with them.... Though, I'm afraid I can only do dapples for colours other than grey, haha. Dapple greys are just so weird to colour...
