I was thinking - why do stamps have to be all the same size & shape?

Why not a little variety? A little of this & a little of that?

I did dream of making an animated one that gradually changed its shape several times, but I never got down to doing it.

Agreed! Variety is good, and it's a routine-breaker . Yes, It has always been about rectangular or square stamps here, on DA, and I haven't seen different shapes before I find yours. Fortunately, in real life, the actual postage stamps vary a lot (triangle, soccer-ball shape, raised shape, 3D effect, etc.)

Well, just persevere, and you'll get the design you want. Practice brings success!
