Description
Roots of a cypress tree extending into the Suwannee River, North Florida. July 2010.The Suwannee River flows from the Okefenokee Swamp in south Georgia, across North Florida, to the Gulf of Mexico. Suwannee is a Timucuan Indian word meaning "Echo River". Another translation I've read is dark water; it's a dark reddish brown, due to the high tannin content in the water.
