Trying to hone my DOF skills...hope you don't get sick of my aliens!Thanks again to DarioFish for his awesome creature morph! Thanks to AS for the Outlander costume and another Gothic prison set

You need to up your pixel sample count to at least 10 if you want that grainy effect to disappear.
It will greatly enhance and smooth out your DoF effect but it will also greatly increase your rendering times. Nothing good comes without pain I guess!
Otherwise your composition is interesting, well done!

Thank you so much for the information! Unfortunately I'm using an old XP with not enough memory and when I up the pixel count my program crashes! It really sucks!

You are welcome.
That is true indeed, DoF is a RAM-consuming process which ends up with a crash on machines with not enough memory.
You could try blurring those grainy parts in post if you like.

I don't know your graphic software but sometimes noise filters for photos also work to get rid of the grain.
