Evolving from the oft-overlooked and poorly understood Dunsparce, Ascendrake is revered as a representative of the realms beyond the lives of mortals. Said to be the personal messengers of Arceus Himself, these serpentine dragons forever abandon the subterranean lifestyle of its pre-evolution. While Dunsparce can busily flap its near-vestigial wings to gain mere inches of altitude, and can only sustain flight for a matter of seconds, Ascendrake seem to stay airborne with only a lazy movement of its massive, feathered quartet of wings. The appearance of these wings is said to be the inspiration for the human concept of angels. Lacking any arms or legs, it is believed that Ascendrake spend their entire lives airborne, though their exact lifespan is unknown, as no deceased specimens have ever been recovered, nor have any live ones been successfully produced from captured Dunsparce. Due to the many myths surrounding this Pokemon, it is unclear where the facts end and the legends begin.
