Anyway I was in our school's annual talent show tonight. Did our own censored version of this song: [link] <---Warning, VERY NSFW.

It was really fun.

Also, here I'm like the child who knows more English (got 11th in my county English contest, and 130th of whole Spain) So don't worry about linking stupidities or swearing things or whatever xD

Awesome. If only there were talent shows in my school (there are other schools in my town which have them, and funnier things, but mine is way too professional (despite the level on English which is taught is lame) and too big to hold any other thing than a yearly contest of questions to see which is the smartest class. Which I won almost alone, by the way :U )

humanpersonguy In reply to SandraMJ [2010-05-15 20:34:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. it's by Wm. Paul Young. It's quite a religious book, being that God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit are main character's that help the central character Mackenzie get over his 6 year old daughter's murder.

I'm Jewish (Not actually practicing, I just have a passive interest in religion), so some of it is confusing if it's from the New Testament, but I know more about Christianity than most Christians I know.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SandraMJ In reply to humanpersonguy [2010-05-15 20:36:55 +0000 UTC]

I'm made Catholic. I actually don't believe in the church, so I'm really an agnostic, but my mother doesn't allow me to. She says either I confirmate or she'll cross my face (it means she'll hit me) The fucking part is that my brother didn't have to confirmate

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

humanpersonguy In reply to SandraMJ [2010-05-15 20:51:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I am actually bred 50% Catholic (on my father's side), but I just can't understand any of the choices made by the Church thoughout it's History.

1: Indulgences: Buying your way into Heaven
2: The Crusades: Regaining the holy land from the Jews because it was promised...to...the...Jews......wth.
3: Inquisition: First and Second. Any random person could accuse someone of witchcraft or blasphemy, and they'd throw them into the water. If they lived, they were evil in which case, they would be killed, if they died, they were good.

And many more. I'm not going to preach my views, but yeah. Those are my views. It's hard to follow a degree in astronomy while still believing religion fully. I believe in evolution and the big bang, and I've been scolded for it by my more religious friends.

I don't have any business in your family life, but I just wish your mother didn't threaten (or act upon) such things.

1_holy corrupter church
2_they wanted it from the muslims, not the jews
3_ Inquisition was really horrible. I could rant about it all the day. But since it makes a whole plot of my comic I will not say anything.

I never believed in Genesis or any bible word. But I know an idiot in my class that thought that church said that Genesis and only Genesis is the way and dunno what more. Following our priests' words, The Vatican says the Genesis and Evolution coexist or dunno what more.

Yes, I really wish the same. But I never get to choose anything

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

humanpersonguy In reply to SandraMJ [2010-05-15 21:03:43 +0000 UTC]

Can't we Jews and the Muslims fight it out alone? XD

No. I really hope that people in the Middle East realize that the violence has gone on long enough. I'm kinda parted on the whole Zionism thing. I think Jerusalem should be an international city as it was intended, but I kinda want it to be under the Israeli flag...I just don't know anymore. x.x

Poor Sandra... That last sentence made me sad, because I've known a few people where it was really bad with their parents. I don't know the intensity of what's going on over there, and I'm not sure I want to, but if it ever gets out of control, I'll try to be there.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SandraMJ In reply to humanpersonguy [2010-05-15 21:12:21 +0000 UTC]

I think the world should be international. Countries just take to wars

Anyways, I understand it. Christians would go mad if Muslims came and took the Vatican. I wish there were ways to peace

I think my parents just got frustrated because my brother decided not to confirmate. So, Sandri must confirmate her faith in something she doesn't believe. And my parents never even step on a church because of laziness! And when I say this to my confirmation teacher (which incidentally is the weirdest priest I've ever met) he just says
"your parents are offering you a new point of view, you simply don't know the church"
"Excuse me. I've been having religion classes for 10 years in this school. I think I kind of know what religion is"
"No, you don't! You're receiving it as something bad! As something that's obligated to you!"
"BUT I'M BEING OBLIGATED TO COME HERE!"
"But they're just trying to give you a point of view!"

Man, and the circle continues until I give up talking.

To me, Religion = Hope

This is why I consider myself Agnostic and not Aethiest. Religion, and even just the blind belief that a God exists somehow brings hope.

And that's all it is to me.

Also, with Jerusalem, the only problem is that it is holy to EVERYONE.

Muslims - Dome of the Rock
Jews - The Western Wall
Christians - Jesus's resurrection? or burial? I can't remember x.x

I strive to understand people's religions, I think, because I know what happens when people don't, and everything about what happens goes against my moral code.

Every night, I lie in my bed awake for about an hour or more, thinking. Just thinking. About my moral values, others' moral values, views of the world, everything. On some topics I still need more thought. Religion is one of them, I feel, so thank you for helping, a two way conversation is much more effective than thinking alone.

I arrived to the last phrase of yours years ago. I usually come up with idiotness, though. My thoughts about religions, somehow lead into weird questions like:

I believe there's something superior to us. May be it's an alien, may be it's a sea sponge. I just think there's something that has more power than us, as irrational as it sounds towards the human mind which tends to think we're the highest know-it-alls.

To my mind, religions have only brought war and conflicts. They have done few good compared to all the damage. But people needs to cling to a hope and say "THIS IS THE REAL TRUTH" and that's what causes it.

My point of view is "there's no truth, and there are several" meaning that I don't believe in any religion's dogmas, but I believe you can learn the good from each religion.

Well said, Sandra, and I agree completely. Thank you. My only wish is that people at least take other's opinions and views into consideration. I know a lot of people who would slap me and walk away without a second look, for telling them what I'm telling you now.

The clue to peace, pal, is to tell the people not to open their eyes, but their ears.

This will be quoted some day, somehow.

You're a good person too, HPG, it's always nice to talk to people who knows the art of hearing (or reading in this case )

Haha yes, as you were replying, I came across this quote in The Shack, I think it's great.

"They arrived at the door of the workshop. Again Jesus stopped. 'Those who love me have come from every system that exists. They were Buddhists or Mormons, Baptists or Muslis; some are Democrats, some Republicans, and many don't vote or are not part of any Sunday morning or religious institutions. I have followers who were murderers and many who were self-rightous. some are bankers and bookies, Americans and Iraqis, Jews and Palestinians. I have no desire to make them Christian, but I do want to join them in their transformation into sons and daughters of Papa [God, in the book], into my brothers and sisters, into my Beloved.'

'Does that mean,' said Mack, 'that all roads will lead to you?'

'Not at all.' Jesus smiled as he reached for the dor handle to the shop. 'Most roads don't lead anywhere. What it does mean is that I will travel any road to find you.'"

I'm really enjoying this book, and talking to you is honestly helping it.

It sounds like a religion class of mine. Depending on the professor of course. The priest Miguel Ánel said that religions were worthy studying, that every religion had its good things and every religion leads to good -most influent priest in my life ever

Then priest JosΓ© Luis claimed that every single religion is bullshit but ours (and he also claimed bullfights are the best thing ever)

And then priest JosΓ© Carlos just likes to traumatize us (do you know why sepherds were considered impure? We do 8| )

Anyways, I'll see if I can find any book with a translation of that name around, for the sake of scientistic curiosity of the world

I'm glad that there are people out there who don't put up walls to keep others' ideas out. People like you. People like priest Miguel Anel. (Forgot the hotkey for accent sign, I don't have it on my keyboard.)

On the other hand, people with walls, such as priest Jose Luis, cannot express their ideas effectively because a wall not only keeps ideas from getting in, it keeps ideas from getting out.

This, in my mind, is the basis for all the tragedy that come with religion.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SandraMJ In reply to humanpersonguy [2010-05-16 06:15:37 +0000 UTC]

Yes. If every priest of every religion was like Miguel Ángel (who , unrelated to this, was nicknamed Mr T here, due to his mostacho and beard, forming a T) people would learn to learn from others.

JosΓ© Luis is... JosΓ© Luis. "Ol' traditional Spanish guy" clingied to ol' traditional methods. Actually, he left my school last year and moved back to his hometown, to teach in his town's school.

Anyways, I think that this generation of ours is more comprehensive. We know more of men and women equality, we know more about global warming, and I think we know more about respect between religions
