I've never really understood photoshop.. how do you open layers? I really want to make my drawings look like this. But I don't know how you'd add detail to the lines without a pen! Do you use a pen or just the mouse? I know you can purchase a tool where by you can digital draw and paint with an actual pen that connects to a computer screen. Is that what these artists use?

If you're serious about learning digital art, then you should definitely get a drawing tablet. Start with a cheap one from Wacom for example, and see how you like it
