Back in the early 90's (or thereabouts), there was a comic where Kitty Pryde and Rachel were hung upside down by their booted feet, which were tied together. I'm not sure why Kitty couldn't phase out of the predicament, but she couldn't. She didn't need to, though, as she was able to slip out of her boots into barefooted freedom (due to previous training as a super ninja assassin while brainwashed by an archvillain in the 80's mini-series, Kitty Pryde & Wolverine).
Anyway, sorry for the rant, but seeing Rachel show off her beautiful bare feet reminded me of that scene and Kitty's barefoot escape.

Oh, yes, I remember the scene! It was during the much too long "Crosstime Caper" storyline. I believe their powers were being blocked somehow or another during their capture, because I remember they had to physically fight their way out (They made such a hasty escape that Kitty was never even able to retrieve her boots!) I thought of that scene when drawing this picture because Rachel noted she couldn't do the escape trick herself since her boots went all the way up to her neck. I figured that wouldn't be a problem in my picture. LOL
