Heres some info and a closer look at the major models that built up my New super mario bros scene in unreal.comments and crits are welcom on both pieces.

im modeling things for a game too but i hate texturing... so it looks all quite bad

i don't think that this narrow street is perfekt, its not dirty enough, the modeling is too clean, looks like simple boxes -.- it is not bad, but it could be much more naturalistic cause of the bad texturing, no bumpmaps etc...

well when I have to make scenes in 3D I dont make them clean, I find that a model with alot of grunge and dirt will always look better than the same model with clean textures.
take a look at mirrors edge and gears of war for example, mirrors edge is clean with minimal dirt but GOW is really dirty and damaged, both look really great but GOW looks the best because of all the details in the textures.
I always go a little over the top with dirt and scratches just to make the model look interestingly realistc rather than just realistic.

That's just bad-ass. They should make one Mario game in this style for the Xbox and PS3 just for fun.

That would be awesome, at least you know what would have happend to mario if microsoft did buy nintendo a few years back
