I am going to be honest with you, this post sums up the answer to that one big issue I have had with the Barn Mates episode in Steven Universe.
At first I used to find Lapis to be quite harsh towards Peridot, like the majority of viewers out there. Yet the more I watched that ep over and over, the more I realized just how ignorant and self-glorifying Peridot was over what she had done.
The so-called “great and loveable” is foolish to think she is completely guaranteed to instantly win over Lapis as a friend, after what she did to her off-screen. She treats her earlier interrogation over Lazuli in the gem warship (I bet in a torture chamber) like a “That was in the past it’s not like that anymore!” excuse, or as something Lazuli should be impressed with!? So whenever Lapis rejects or trashes Peridot’s acts of kindness, I feel Peridot deserved it as a tough lesson to learn.
I’m sure the two took their time to make amends with each other by now though and I really enjoy your post.

God she is su8ch a bitch in the next couple of episodes, and I get the feeling its not going away soon until something really dramatic happens. Although, I think it would have been less malicious if she asked "How's getting everything you ever worked for and created destroyed by your enemies? Or how's doing machines? Because that's your thing."

It's probably not going to go away in any near episodes, but they did end Barn Mates with a glimmer of hope, she does care about Peridot's well-being and she clearly doesn't want to admit it. Peridot realizes theirs still a chance to make up. Clearly building that trust between them will take some time though. Lapis is mad at Peridot but she doesn't want her to suffer either otherwise she wouldn't have cared at the end of Barn Mates or Hit the Diamond.

Critics: You're Peridot is super adorable, I love the design you gave her.
You're lapis is pretty good, I just recommend working on giving her some more shoulder, the ones you draw on her look like they go down a little to quickly (kinda looks like she doesn't have any at times).

haha thanks! i do tend to give the slouchy characters in my comics the slope-y shoulders, just for stylistic purposes and cus it's easier to draw. i'll keep this in mind tho :>
